I've been doing a lot of checking, and a large surrounding area ONLY has Openreach ADSL

Checking the mobile networks, there is barely any indoor data coverage on all four networks, O2 or Vodafone most hopeful.

I also check all the fixed access wireless broadband providers, and none of them cover Redhill !.

As far as I can tell, only the four providers I listed can offer anything better than ADSL as shown on the map.

@tudorradulescu  - are you "out of contract" with Plusnet ?, and if not how many months do you have remaining ?

Fair enough - but that makes me wonder why a reasonably affluent area is so badly served - by BT or altnets. I'm amazed the residents haven't kicked up an almighty stink.

They will when their landline PSTN phones get cut off at the end of the year, and find "Digital Voice" is hopeless over ADSL !

Getting further away from the telephone exchange area, Openreach FTTP seems to be more available, but that doesn't help @tudorradulescu

I am within the purple dots zone according to the map,

So if I remove the red dots (representing Virgin), this map is clearer -

(again the telephone exchange is indicated by the blue tear drop)

The darker purple dots around the High Street are Hyperoptic, and the lighter dots are Hey! and F&W

Re: Problems with Hub 2

Just out of interest, I remembered I had an oldish (December 2023) OpenReach FTTP build diary - just checked, and says: 'we are building in this exchange now' - so, unless something has gone seriously wrong, FTTP from OR should be available in at least some of the town.

Re: Problems with Hub 2

Yes away from the telephone exchange area FTTP does seem available,

but that doesn't help @tudorradulescu  who confirmed in Reply #16  that they can't get Openreach WBC FTTP

so for this topic, AltNets are the only hope ?

Re: Problems with Hub 2

That is true, but I would have thought they would still cover the whole area within a reasonable timescale. After all, as I have said, Redhill is reasonably affluent, and I imagine businesses trying to work on (apparently) slow ADSL aren't that happy. I know they have a bit of a 'we don't like modern development' council, but if the residents kick up enough of stink....

I'm not sure what you're looking at given that the choices were ... [Virgin, Hey!, F&W, Hyperoptic]

Never mind, I've worked out how you got to that !

However -

@tudorradulescu wrote:

On Link Broadbands I get 3 options that show up:

- FTTP superfast fibre 80mbps down / 20 mbps up

...

...

By guessing a nearby street address postcode and seeing what's available gives the results shown below.

You can see that (in this example) Link are offering BOTH AltNet FTTP, and Openreach FTTP.

The AltNet's FTTP lowest speed tier is 100/100Mbps,  whereas Openreach's FTTP is 80/20Mbps .

So what YOUR results said is available is Openreach FTTP - which you've previously posted is unavailable !.

@tudorradulescu -

I think you need to contact Link or F&W and confirm whether they can install (either) FTTP at your address.

If they confirm Openreach FTTP is available, then you could chase Plusnet to verify that the Openreach database is correct for your address (and upgrade with Plusnet), otherwise try signing up with Link or F&W and see whether installation completes.
