Router problem

Hi,

When I joined Plusnet I had the Router 1.  At that time I changed the names of the 2.4GHz + 5GHz so they appeared separately when choosing wifi.

I have now upgraded to the Router 2 and have decided to change the names to the same so only one wifi connection appears rather than two.   The problem I'm having is I can't see on the Router 2 how to do this?  Is it possible to change the names of the bands on Router 2 or am I stuck with two different names for each band???

Thanks in advance

Re: Router problem

@Rob1977 welcome to the community.

There is no change necessary as both 2.4 and 5GHz share the same wireless name on a Hub Two

Re: Router problem

Unfortunately (now using Router 2) when I go to choose wife there are two wifi options available showing the different names.

Re: Router problem

You are referring to the Hub two?

Can you share the screen where you are seeing this?

Mine looks like

H2 - Advanced Settings - Wireless (advanced wireless).png

Edit: it might not be obvious but the Network name is for both bands

Re: Router problem

@Rob1977 yes, you can turn on & off the bands separately BUT as @Dan_the_Van said , the network name is common to both bands

And here are the two separate wifi options which I assume is one for 2.5ghz and one for 5ghz

Ignoring the hidden network, Only the one labelled PLUSNET... is anything to do with the HUb 2

The one labelled Pankhub... is some other device!!!

Re: Router problem

If you check this page on the Hub you can reveal which device has connected to which band by clicking either 2.4GHz or 5GHz

I do not believe the wireless you are connected to is the Hub

Re: Router problem

Understood!

I realise now Pankhurst is the Goole WiFi nest. Would having this connected to router effect the signal strength?

Thank you again!

Re: Router problem

Which broadband package do you have Fibre (copper to property no landline phone) or Full Fibre (Fibre to property)?

The Hub two and Google WiFi nest appear to be close to each other looking at the signal strength levels in the available network screen shot in your post 6.

Is there any reason why you should not switch off the Hub Two wireless and just use the google devices?  or is the nest device using a wireless backhaul connection to the Hub Two (the interconnection between to nest and hub devices)?

Two wireless systems being close to each other might cause interference if both are using the same channel number.

Re: Router problem

@Rob1977 move the 'Disable all wireless' toggle on the wireless settings page to Yes
