I am currently terminating Cat5e Ethernet cabling in a friends large extension. The builder has done an excellent job with insulation by infilling the timber frame walls with aluminium faced insulation boards. This is very effective at stopping both heat and wifi getting out of rooms! Luckily I got the electrician to run Ethernet cabling to each room from a central distribution point before the plasterboard was fitted ready for me to wire up all the connectors and fit a switch.

I'd forgotten about the Silver Skin, wasn't around last time I did any building but neither was the internet! Friends use it on outer walls only, shoestring budget so can't afford to have it inside as well. Great idea to install ducting in any new house, costs very little, as long as you remember the access points for when you want a changearound in 10 years' time.

Hi Baldrick
Just a line to thank you again for your excellent guide to HH6 setup. I would never have sorted this without it. As you warned, my only hiccup was after step 6 (entering my PN username/login) when the SAVE button did not appear; I went back to advanced settings and the HH6 had saved the details anyway, and worked straightaway on the PCs. The iPads would not log onto wifi, until I split the signal as per instructions in posts 116-119 on previous page 8.
So how does it work? On a few days' daily TBB speedtesting, there's no difference from the PN Hub One, it's around 36Mb on my 40Mb connection. Wifi is slightly better, going by the signal bars on the iPad it's about 10% better walking around the house but still not enough to penetrate our concrete walls. The family likes the HH6 dimmable light, we had to tape over the weird blue glow from the PN One. Anyway for £15 on Gumtree I now have a first-class spare router as well as the one from PN, one's just as good as the other for our purposes. Best wishes!

Strange, I have been on SG4B1B008198 since last August. You haven't misread A for 8?

Definitely SG4B1B00819A
updated this morning and that is the date for the last firmware update.
I had been on the same since august that's why I thought it worthy of a post. I had assumed updates were pretty much finished for HH6

My 'new' HH6 installed last week is running well but the last update version SG4B1000B540 was installed in April last year. Will BT update its hub when it's being used on Plusnet?

There are actually more versions if you take into account the Business Smart Hub and the FTTP type with the Red WAN port.

No, although it did drop a connection for the first time in a while yesterday but I do seem to have an odd connection. sometimes it will drop 4 times one day and then not drop again for a month! not sure i'll ever get to the bottom of it.

When you say drop the connection, due you mean a reboot?
