Using BT disc with plusnet hub 2

Hi all, I'm new to plusnet as of today.
I've moved from BT smarthub 2 to plusnet hub 2.
I would like to use the BT disc to help WiFi signal. I've seen comments such as... There's lots of posts, but I can't find one I need.
Do I need to use the BT router and disc?
Can someone tell me what i need to do do, and how to do it please

Re: Using BT disc with plusnet hub 2

The simplest solution is to use the PlusNet hub 2 router, disable WiFi and plug the WholeHome WiFi into a LAN port on the PlusNet hub 2 router.

Re: Using BT disc with plusnet hub 2

Don't bother with the BT discs.  BT were quick to ask for their kit back! remember you only rent it!

Complete WI FI was very good and although the disks are ugly and cheap they work and create a very good mesh.

My solution, get onto Ebay and buy another mesh system. 3 months savings ardthe kit is all yours forever.

I paid about £30.each for Google WiFi. One batch of three (one node didn't work) and another bought almost new and in the box added it later.
They work very but don't expect blistering speed, I get a consistent 50 - 60 mbs at the moment 82 mb. I am more than content but it shows 509 mbs at the first node, much less on the mesh. Lots of integration with Google Home and lots of customisation for wi fi options like the ability to create a guest network.
I will after Christmas have a deep tinker with the settings.

My only problem was setting up the 2nd hand kit, you have to make sure you reset to factory settings. Give it plenty of time to reconfigure  and rid itself of the previous owners settings.

Re: Using BT disc with plusnet hub 2

Thanks for the advice.

I have since found out that BT wanted £50 for router & £30 for Disc! So they have had them back Smiley

I have now invested in some TP link powerline adapters and WiFi extender for £38.99.

My router is throwing out around 300mb, and my WiFi in the deadspots is now getting around 40mb.

I forgot that my extension was setup on a separate ring main, so that doesn't help.

Re: Using BT disc with plusnet hub 2

@Robmorgan1981 be aware that the powerline adpator in that kit only has a 10/100 ethernet port so the maximum speed you will get via that will be 100Mb!. Im afraid that the specs claiming 300Mb wifi performance for these devices are somewhat disengenuous...

Thank you. It's only running a work PC and 1 or 2 other devices. No major requirements
