Re: Using a BT Hub 4

@SS41  You were a bit minimal on the details but I have tracked it down to Birmingham Midland Exchange (CMMLD) and it does indeed say VDSL(FTTC) is planned for cabinet 47. Looking at the checker all the addresses on that cabinet seem to be one apartment block and it also says FTTP (full fibre) is available as shown in the text below,

"Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Multi Dwelling Unit Residential UG Proven Clear.

ONT exists with active service. No spare ports are available. A new ONT may be ordered."

That shows that FTTP can be ordered as it is showing an active connection.

If you want FTTP you will have to leave Plusnet as they don't offer it yet, they say they will later this year but I wouldn't hold my breath.  If you move to BT FTTP Plusnet may let you leave your contract with no extra charges.

If I could get it I'd sign up for FTTP like a shot.😀

Re: Using a BT Hub 4

Thanks for all your help guys and gals. You truly are legends for helping others in your spare time.

So is the general consensus, having seen my information from tests and current firmware, that I cannot do anymore myself to improve situation other than leaving PN?

Thanks.

@SS41

Can't comment on youir original problem but the first thing I'd do now is to confirm if FTTP is available. Go to the BT retail page and use their availability checker to see what it offers. If FTTP is available then you have a choice to make.

In general FTTP is far superior to ADSL or FTTC. You get close to advertised speeds.

Deleted. I failed to spot that the topic had moved on to page 3.

Re: Using a BT Hub 4

Hello,

My software version is 4.7.5.1.83.8.263 and reading other threads on here it appears the latest update is 4.7.5.1.83.8.289.1.1.

Can someone please tell me how I can update please as the new router hasn't improved things for me at all with dropouts etc, etc.

Thanks in Advance.

Put a request on this thread https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Hub-One-5GHz-WiFi-issue/m-p/1696363#M15510 and it should get picked up.
