Re: VPN problem

The Asus WAN IP should be a 192.168.1.0 /24 address with a gateway and DNS 192.168.1.254

discovered that the IP address for the Asus is the same as the hub2

Which IP Address are you referring to? screenshot might help

It certainly would! I suspect it's the LAN IP.

has it been factory reset ? It will have defaulted back to 192.168.1.x.

Re: VPN problem

Unfortunately all those screenshots refer to wireless settings and are of no use in resolving the problem.

You need to post the WAN settings and the LAN settings so we can see where the problem may be

Re: VPN problem

Yes, that's it. Earlier on in the thread you said that the dd-wrt router IP was 192.168.3.1, that's not what that screen shows!.

You need to set it back to 192.168.3.1 and probably the start address for dhcp ( on the same screen ) back to 192.168.3.64 if it doesnt automatically change when you change the router IP.

Then after saving the changes ( if it doesnt automatically do it ) then I suggest rebooting the dd-wrt router and checking everything now works

Re: VPN problem

Many thanks again Mister W.

When I bought the dd-wrt Asus router it’s IP had been set 192.168.3.1 after the tinkering by Plusnet as I previously described all went wrong and I just couldn’t work out why, after spending what seemed like hours  seeking help and advice online I turned to the community for help and advice, hopefully this will work.

Again many thanks for your time and advice I will let you know if and when the problem is solved.

regards

Brian.

Re: VPN problem

Wait, isn't the Asus router configured here as a DHCP server? I assume the Hub Two is as well? Isn't this asking for problems? Huh

Re: VPN problem

Normally yes , but in this configuration they are ( or were meant to be) on separate subnets so both need to be dhcp servers

Re: VPN problem

hello,

Yes and that’s my point everything was working well before Plus made adjustments to my Hub2 and for me this had to be the problem source.

Re: VPN problem

but the configuration of the Asus has also changed. Who changed that ? did you factory reset it ?

Have you set the Asus back to 192.168.3.1 ?

Re: VPN problem

I did not adjust anything and yes I have reset the ip back to 192.168.3.1, I can now access the dd wrt channel on my laptop and Ipad but not on my two streaming devices, although they both see The SSID they won’t latch onto it.

That's nothing to do with the VPn though. You probably need to adjust the wifi channels on the Asus so that they don't clash with the Hub 2, it may be that the channel has changed since the ( assumed ) factory reset.

Re: VPN problem

@longshanks67

just a footnote to this thread suggest you create a backup of the working config of your dd-wrt router and the Hub two if you have made any changes from the defaults.

Hub Two - Advanced Settings >System >Backup / Restore

Asus dd-wrt - Administration >Backup
