Which Hub 2 sockets to use with Netgear Orbi 970 Mesh

My assumption is based on ‘NAS seems to be assigned 192.168.1.67  and the range in the Orbi is 192.168.1.2 to .254 so within.’

Can you manually change the DNS address to 192.168.1.1 to try?

@Baldrick1 Found a manual but not a lot of use without being able to connect to the Orbis.

Search for 192.168 came up with "The user name is <removed>, the password is <removed>, and the LAN IP address is 192.168.1.1. DHCP is enabled.

Must say it's an impressive system.

@Golfman  Working through the manual : can you check the ACL controls are turned off.

1. Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to your Orbi network.
2. Enter orbilogin.com.
A login window displays.
3. Enter the admin user name and password.
The user name is admin. The password is the one that you specified the first time that you logged in.
The BASIC Home page displays.
4. Select ADVANCED > Security > Access Control.
The Access Control page displays.
5. Select the Turn on Access Control check box.
You must select this check box before you can select an access rule and use the
Allow and Block buttons. When the Turn on Access Control check box is cleared, all
devices are allowed to connect, even if a device is on the list of blocked devices.
6. Click the Apply button.

Hi

Have checked that before, the AC check box is ticked but the NAS is in the list of allowed devices. I tried unticking the AC box but no different !!

Just to be clear, everything is working on all devices including the Nas inside your network ?

The only problem is remotely connecting to the Nas which also cannot access the Internet ?

I assume locally you map drives to the Nas but how do you connent from outside ?

Are you using quickconnect or IP address + port 5000 or 5001

Yes all devices including the NAS work perfectly on the local network. Correct the NAS will not connect to the Internet {to allow updates etc}. To connect to the NAS from outside I use quickconnect.

 Quickconnect  &  IP address + port 5001 are 2 different methods to access the box.

If using IP address + port 5001 a port forward rule to the Nas must exist on the router.

Correct the NAS will not connect to the Internet {to allow updates etc}. 

For a device to be able to connect to the internet it needs the default gateway to be set correctly

In the following example the router IP Address is 192.168.1.1 using a Class C netmask (255.255.255.0)

The assumption is the router is also the DHCP and DNS server.

   IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.n (n = IP Address withing the DHCP pool)
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
   DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
   DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

Using the Hub Two with the default settings I would expect when using DHCP

   IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.n (n = an IP Address within .64 to .253
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254
   DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254
   DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254

When the router is changed for a different device I would advise rebooting all the LAN equipment.

Well believe it or not I seem to have fixed it....

On the NAS, under LAN connections, I selected IPv6 to on/automatically  and low and behold it works….I have no idea why as I don’t really understand it all !!

Next problem I have now discovered is the Epsom wireless printer will not connect to the wifi !!!

Still working on that one….

That's a new one. A device attempting to access the Internet needs to confirm IPv6 is not available before trying IPv4.  I suspect there is a setting in the Orbi telling the NAS to try IPv6 first...........

Just reading down this thread I seem to have been forming the same conclusions as @Dan_the_Van.  I wondering if this was fixed by changing the IPv6 setting, because that restarted the networking components of the NAS, and picked up the new settings from DHCP.  I don't think it's been said anywhere if the NAS has been restarted whilst this issue has been ongoing.

Hi everyone. Just an update . Yes the NAS and PC and Orbi were rebooted numerous times....What seem to fix was setting the LAN connection in the NAS to have the IPv6 on (auto) Have no idea what it does or why it solved the issue...Have now tried with switching the IPv6 back off (how it always was) and evderything still works.(Even after rebooting everything) The Orbi has assigned the NAS a different IP adress to before (was .67  now is .222) so even though the NAS was showing on the local network with IP of 67 it didnt work from outside (or allow the NAS to connect to internet)  now haveing played with the IPv6 setting on and off it has reassigned the NAS Ip of 22 and all works.... The printer has been sorted....I think the original wifi network settings were stuck in the printer....(havent found a way to clear them) so I set the printer on a different wifi network from the orbi (IOT network) and after the normal reboots etc it seems to be good..

If anyone is interested in the Orbi performance etc, I currently only have FTTC and cosisitent get a download speed of 38mbs. Nothing particularly change there obviously. What is better is the wifi strength. I was having to use a Devolo ethernet powerline adapter to get a signal from one side of the house (where the modem is) to the other side where other requirmemnts are (TV etc and to get a wifi to the patio and garden. The orbi is a mesh with 1 satellite. Which are opposite sides of the house, health monitor says signal between the two units is good and strong. Wifi is much stronger in lounge and on patio and reaches further into the garden. The speeds on wifi have improved noticably even over those direct from plusnet hub 2. And as a bonus my laptop is wifi 6 capable (which I didnt realise) so is much better over the wifi. When I eventually upgrade to FTTP should be even better!!!
