Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

My understanding is you can block specific mac's but how to clear them is not so clear I know this PC is on wifi as its getting my doorbell camera which is only on the wifi, but its not getting the Internet I'm happy to try anything but not at the expense of loosing all connections my main Laptop connects and is working fine and I'm not about to jeopardise that for anything, so forgive me if I'm not going to try every suggestion made.

no, but I can logon to my phone card router on a separate connection and it works fine. it appears its this specific mac address thats been blocked but this does mean my box has been hacked which is even more worrying

So do another FACTORY RESET to completely clear the configuration

Set a new PASSWORD for the Hub2 web interface (to deter future hacks)

Change the WiFi SSID to something different, and set a complex new WiFi password.

Reconnect your troublesome computer using the new WiFi SSID+password

That's not the point. If you can't clear this problem with a full FACTORY RESET, then the next easiest solution would be to permanently use an alternative router.  For the sake of getting a more capable second-hand router from eBay for perhaps £15 to £20, you could save yourself a load of grief trying to troubleshoot your Hub2.

.

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

yes I'd already thought of that but its then a matter of going round changing the detail on many things (not a 5min job) as all my tv boxes tv etc are all connected via wifi

@Anunnaki  I suspect @Anonymous is worried about the losing this configuration that almost works and the router reset should be a last resort.

Are there any other suggestions as to why devices are denied access to the internet ?

If that is the case (I don't know as I've never had a Plusnet router), then a full FACTORY RESET seems the ONLY solution.

@Anonymous

With pause you have the option to pause everything or a group of devices.

So do you have a group with just one device or many? I have set up a group named 'One' with a single PC in

Looking at >Access control >Groups I see

Screenshot 2024-06-23 134522.png

Looking at >Access control >Pause I see with the device paused.

Screenshot 2024-06-23 134705.png

With the device in the group when pause I see >Home >My devices

Paused

Not paused

You need to click save for every change you make.

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

@Anonymous

Earlier you stated: 'no one in my family has access so it must be hacking then but its sorted for now'. Does that mean that you have fixed the problem or is it still ongoing, as I deduce from your more recent posts?

Assuming the latter then there's clearly two issues here:

1. Unauthorised access to your hub settings.

2. Resolving the problem.

Taking each in turn:

1. Gaining access to your router is fairly simple, all that is needed is access to the pull out card that lives on the rear of the hub. I have read of people locating hubs on window sills with the details on show to anyone looking in. The solution to this is to simply change the admin and maybe wireless passwords. If you ever lose the new passwords a factory reset will restore them to the defaults, so you can't lock yourself out.

2. Presumably you know the MAC address of the errant computer? Have you tried logging in to the hub Advanced settings and selecting the Access Control page? Here you can select the Schedules page and see if the errant PS's MAC address is mentioned. Also do the same on the Pause page.

If there's mention of this PC and you are reluctant to make any changes then simply exit the hub settings and come back for further advice.

Edit

Whist I have been typing @Dan_the_Van has been on the same trail.

@Anonymous just to add to that. If you just post screendumps of the Schedules , Pause & Groups pages of the Access controls then we can see what the problem may be

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

mine are in 4 groups 2.4GHz, 5Ghz lan1 lan2 the 2 wifi ones are clear, the address of the not logging in PC does not appear there, the Lan is to all my tv and tv boxes (with a few on wifi) lan2 is connected to my internet phone and thats no problem at all.

@Anonymous so have you created those groups ?

because AFAIK by default there is only one group ( default ) and all devices are in it.

and have you created schedules for those groups ?

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

All points noted and understood, I'm not sure what you mean about pulling out the card to get access to the hub, its a stand alone Hub 2 unit and not anywhere it can be seen for the login details. yes I  know the address of the PC but its not on the list anywhere but then the browser page I sent before shows its not connecting so I don't expect it to be there.

I'm happy to try anything non destructive, but at the moment I have one pc that won't connect I don't want to kill everything
