technicolor router keeps restarting every few minutes

Hi

Got a problem with my router that keeps restarting every few minutes. I reset it to factory settings but nothing seems to help. When on a rare occasion when it is working it works well....

any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Gordon.

Re: technicolor router keeps restarting every few minutes

Hi @wizzywizard

Sorry to hear you are getting drops in connection, I can replicate these findings on our side as well, here is a copy of your RADIUS log for the past 7 days in visual form;

The drops outs do seem to be very frequent - how often would you say you are power cycling / resetting the router may I ask?

Now the good news (if you'll believe that) is that I have found no fault on your line after performing both a Phone & Broadband test.

Here is a copy of the GEA test results I have ran;

Test Outcome Pass
Test Outcome Code GTC_FTTC_SERVICE_0000
Description GEA service test completed and no fault found .
Main Fault Location OK
Sync Status In Sync
Downstream Speed 54.9 Mbps
Upstream Speed 10.0 Mbps
Appointment Required N
Fault Report Advised N
NTE Power Status PowerOn
Voice Line Test Result Pass

Repetitive Electrical Impulse Noise Not Detected
Cross Talk Not Detected
Estimated Line Length In Metres 264.3
Upstream Rate Assessment Very Good
Downstream Rate Assessment Very Good

Your router is Syncing at 54.99Mbps on a Profile of 0.128M-55M. This is well within your estimates of between 49-62Mbps provided by our supplier.

Now that we have ascertained that your line is performing correctly, the next thing would be to rule your internal wiring out by plugging the connection into your test socket which is under the faceplate of your master socket and seeing if the drops stop. This rules out internal wiring, faceplates and extension sockets as being the cause. How to locate the test socket and set your connection into it can be found here

Please give this a go and let us know how you get on.

Kind Regards,
