Hello all, I'm considering changing my contract from 30 Mbps (with landline) to 40Mbps (without landline). Plusnet advise hub two. Why won't my hub one suffice?

The Hub1 is getting quite long in the tooth and the Hub2 is superior in performance. You do not have to change, but if I was in your shoes, I would take up the offer.

It is not possible to split the wireless 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz names on a Hub Two, it also only has three LAN ports other than that I would say it is superior to the Hub One.

You could stick with the Hub1 if it's meeting your needs but I would take the Hub2 as a back up. It's only £7.99 p&p.
Note your speeds won't actually change withour a landline. Your Internet is still beong provided down the same line.

What did you decide?
My hub one is playing up, like to know how you got on if you changed.

I asked the question because Plusnet said that I 'should' if I upgraded my package. In the end I did not change (but neither have I changed my Plusnet package). However, I have never had any trouble over many years with my Hub One. I have had a Hub Two in another property for two years, and that has never given me any trouble either. There are loads of Hub Ones and Hub Twos on ebay (new and second-hand). I would consider simply buying one according to your budget and/or to whether you wish to upgrade for performance reasons if Plusnet are not volunteering to replace yours.

Thanks for your reply, I'll wait a bit longer before changing it
