How to transfer your emails into Gmail

Setting up a new Gmail email address is pretty easy, but how do you go about getting all of your old emails to your new inbox? It can be a bit of a daunting task, especially if you’ve had your old address for a long time.

Luckily help is at hand, and we’ve got this step-by-step instructions to show you how to do it.

1. Once you’ve created your new email address, log in and click on the cog icon in the right hand corner, and go to ‘settings’.
2. In the settings screen, click on Import mail and contacts

3. In the pop-up window that appears, type in your Vodafone/Justmail/Plusnet Mail email address

4. In the next window, type in the password for your email address.
Where it says POP (Post Office Protocol) username, type your email account username, and then in POP server change the text to the following:

Freeonline: mail.free-online.net
Force9: mail.force9.net
Madasafish: mail.madasafish.com
Metronet: mail.metronet.co.uk
Plusnet: mail.plus.net
Vodafone: pop3.vodafoneathome.co.uk

Finally, make sure the port is set to 110.

5. In the next screen, tell Gmail what you what it to do, then click Start import

6. Job done! The final screen lets you know how long it might take to transfer your emails.
