Back in November I published an article about a new and improved VoIP service PlusNet were offering in conjunction with the well respected Internet solution provider Gradwell. Since then, take up has been healthy and we now have almost 600 customers on the new beta platform. Over recent months we've been working to enhance the functionality we're able to provide to our trialists and the first of these enhancements comes in the flavour of fring™ Those who've already been taking part in our VoIP beta trial will probably have already noticed the Fring download links we've added to the VoIP beta control panel. If you've not yet registered to the VoIP beta then what are you waiting for!? Registering will make sure that you get to hear about and trial new offerings like fring™ before they're officially announced. fring™ is a mobile internet service & community that enables users to access & interact with their social networks on-the-go, make free calls and live chat with all your fring, Skype®, MSN® Messenger, Google Talk™, ICQ, SIP, Twitter, Yahoo!™ and AIM®* friends using your mobile handset’s Internet connection rather than costly cellular airtime minutes. This can be GPRS, GSM, USM or a Wi-Fi Hotspot. It's compatible with Symbian 8, 9.1, 9.2, Windows Mobile 5 & 6 and UIQ handsets and comes pre-cofigured for our beta VoIP platform so you don't have to worry about the niggly settings and configuration nuances that are all too commonly associated with VoIP services. The fring™ mobile VoIP solution maximizes use of the internet capabilities embedded within a subscriber's handset. The fring solution establishes a peer-to-peer VoIP connection between calling parties, enabling true VoIP sessions between fring enabled handsets and also between handsets and PCs.
