Re: Acount cock up again

There's two open tickets so the question isn't at the bottom of the page... the relevant question reads:
"Before we can investigate a fault, as per the connection logs I've included above since last Thursday you seem to have disconnected from roughly 1.55AM up until any time between 10AM and midnight. Before we do anything else can we just check if this is something you may be instigating by powering off your equipment?
We are of course bearing in mind that what you said about the street light but the times of the disconnections would not seem to match up with when this would be powering up or down."
If you could return the first of the two tickets to us with the relevant answer we'll be able to pick this up for you.

Re: Acount cock up again

This fault has been open over a month now and no progress on it. BT said the problem isnt with the line but that I have been put on a fixed profile of 6652. The line can take over 8 meg and has done for over 6 months dropping at night to 7765 the drops are only for a few seconds. Talking to people in the street with BB they seem to have the same problem and it seems to be when someone else connects to BB that the line drops which is why it comes at about the same time in the day or night as they login.
This does seem to be true as when there has been a drop and I use wireless its hard to connect as there is another station on close by. When there is no drop it connect with no problem.
The fixed profile would be ok if it was the normal 7765 I have sen the figures which show it has connect at this rate for over 6 months and the drops havent effect the speed before now but even connecting at 7765 my Plusnet profile never get above 6500.
I dont see it takes over a month to sort something out

Re: Acount cock up again

Hi Samuria,
It looks like you synced below 7000 a couple of weeks ago and that's when the banded profile was applied (there's also sync rates as low as 3000-odd reported). I suspect the fluctuations are down to the disconnections showing, which look from the times that the router is being turned off when not in use rather than left on all the time, is this the case? If so I'd recommend leaving it on for a week or so to see how it behaves, if it syncs at the top end of the banded profile for a few days solid we'll be able to request that this is removed for you.

Re: Acount cock up again

We have been there done that the low sync rate was when I try and connect at adsl2+ thats the highest rate it will connect at adsl2 so I have to keep it a gdmt.
Leaving it on doesnt have any effect  we have tried that  it just stay connect at 6656 so it doesnt make any difference to the profile its impossible to connect at a higher speed it wont let you.
Bt connected when they were on site and they got the same results I have turned the router off at night for years and its never had any effect

Re: Acount cock up again

With a banded profile that's what I'd expect though - as I said it was applied a couple of weeks back, and you won't sync any higher than the top of the profile while it's applied. Unfortunately though as you're getting sync speeds below that we won't be able to get it lifted - you need to be syncing at the top of the profile consistently before the removal request will be actioned. That's why I'm suggesting keeping the router on.

Re: Acount cock up again

It was applied over 40 days ago and some of the low connections is when we have tried to connect at adsl2+ and BT have tried from here if adsl2+ was working it wouldnt connect at this low speed. I changed my account etc to get adsl2+ with the promise of 9 meg and the service has gone down hill ever since I was better off as I was on the old network

Re: Acount cock up again

Hi Samuria,
It's very likely that the banded profile has been applied because of the resyncs, and it's because you turn the router off every night that we can't request for the banding to be removed.
We can remove the banding if you sync at the top of the profile for 72 hours. As you're rebooting every evening and your sync speeds are lower when you power up in the morning, this will not happen as things are.
If you can keep the service synced at 6656kb/s for 72 hours we'll be able to get the banding removed and then be able to push for the 9Mb service.
I suspect the reason things are no longer working as they were under ADSL is simply because of the change up to ADSL2+.

Re: Acount cock up again

It has now been on for 107 hours and even not dropped the line for 46 hours so can we now get the profile changed?  The problem then is I need to know when its done so I can reconnect at a higher speed and also if it will now connect at adsl2+ or not otherwise if I try and connect at adsl2 and it connects at 3 meg again I am back to square one. How many times does it have to connect at a slow speed for it to be effected as I try adsl2 if it connects at 3 meg I stop it and go back to gdmt.
I note my upload has dropped as it used to be 968 the stats are
Connection Status    Connected

US Line Attenuation   28

Re: Acount cock up again

Hi Samuria,
Unfortunately it looks like there's still occasional drops happening - I'm not sure if the sync rate has held through these however the drops will be enough for BT to refuse to remove the banded profile.

I'd be happy to get a fault raised but the connection isn't incredibly intermittent as you can see from the above - let me know how you'd like to push this forward and I'll get on it for you.

Re: Acount cock up again

Since the 18th its been fairly stable but again it show its not random disconnects its always about the same time. At the moment its been up 36 hours straight. The weather has been nice which may effect it as before it was the green box getting flooded and in dry weather it went ok.
I am stuck though its still connecting a gdmt if I try and get adsl2+ and it doesnt work again then it will connect at 3 meg and I am back to square one. I am paying for adsl2+ and would expect it to work with that at the same speed not half the speed. Its this issue which seems to be the problem as if its not setup right

Re: Acount cock up again

Can someone see if the banded profile can now be lifted with the new router there doesnt seem to be any drops

Uptime: 4 days, 3:07:27
DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 609 / 6,655
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 20.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 25.5 / 47.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7.0 / 6.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / TSTC
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 11 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 1 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 1 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 3,036 / 514,279
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 3,036 / 883
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 172,284 / 766

Its been up over 4 days so it should now be possible to get the profile changed but no one is answering the ticket. I assume I will then have to reboot the router to hopefully get a higher speed like the 8 meg I was getting before.
The up speed on the new router is a lot lower as it was 928 on the old one and only 609 on the new one supplied by Plus net
