I do have a Speedtouch 585V6. If I use routerstats, does the PC have to stay on.  SOrry for my ignorance, never used this app before.
Yes and not in standby or sleep mode

Hi penfold,
I can see we've booked an engineer for the 15th, here's hoping. We'll let you know as soon as we have any updates.

Matt
Have we any idea what the last engineer did?  Whatever he did, it stablised the line for 4 1/2 days..  Do you have his notes......

Re: At my wits end......

Unfortunately not. We have access to the notes added following the visit but these are added by the diagnostics team rather than the engineer themselves. I've had a look and all that the notes say is that the E side (exchange side) jumpers have been changed, which may well have improved things but I'm not sure why that then degraded again a few days later.
With any luck you'll be able to get more from the engineer tomorrow.

Re: At my wits end......

Well not sure what this engineer did. Spent about 2mins at the house, then went to the exchange. He did mention lift and shift.....  Things are no better Download syncs OK, currently at around 6500, but since engineer came attenuation has increased even more now at 48dB, last night was 44.  Upload 135kbps, at a margin of 6dB.  W.T.F......  Obviously no better then......  BT engineer did also mention that many people with a number similar to mine, were having issues, what can this mean??  Can we check to see what was done, and maybe get someone to take ownership of this. I AM GETTING VERY TIRED OF THIS NOW, as you can imagine.....
Oh just to add, the phone is now hissing like mad.  Really not happy

Re: At my wits end......

OK.  Line is now stable, but only due to the DLM raising the margin, which again indicates a fault.....  Some questions,,
1..  Just what might be the issue with this line. I do not suspect REIN, as its totally random.
2..  Why do BT insist there is no fault
3..  Why are BT absolutely unable to locate an issue, when there plainly is one.
Current Syncs
Rate:          4560 kbs  101 kbs
Max Rate: 5437 kbs 248 kbs
Noise Margin: 19.0 dB 19.1 dB
Attenuation: 47.1 dB 26.1 dB
Output Power: 19.6 dBm 12.2 dBm
This is now getting ridiculous.  All I want is a stable service at the speeds that my line will support...  Is that too much to ask?

Re: At my wits end......

Hi penfold,
As I said on the other thread, we're expecting to hear back from the complex faults team this morning. As soon as we do get an update we'll be passing it on.
I'll do my best to address your points -
1) Hissing on the line would hint at a wiring fault somewhere, I'd be very surprised if that hissing noise you can hear wasn't the cause of the connection drops.
2) and 3) It depends who picks up the fault as to what diagnostics are done, which is why we're pushing this through to complex faults for you. Unfortunately the standard diagnostics haven't picked up what's causing this in the course of the investigation.
We will let you know as soon as we have anything back, sorry this is going on so long.

Re: At my wits end......

Well..... BT have decided not to try and fix the fault, but put me on a banded profile 3-6Meg.  Whats this then, and how will it help stability....
When the line was running OK, I went onto Daves DLM trial, with 9dB up and down fixed, and this was ABSOLUTELY fine, with no drops in connection or anything.  So whats changed......
Why cant BT just admit there is an fault and F***** fix the thing...  They seem to want to go all around the houses, wasting as much money as possible, before getting to the root of the issue.

Re: At my wits end......

Hi penfold,
Although that's been done the fault is still in hand rather than cleared back to us, so investigations are ongoing. I'll get you an update on what's happening this morning.

Re: At my wits end......

An engineer has been booked to replace the RF3 filter (didnt know I had one), and add an i-plate.  I have a filtered faceplate XTE-5, thats around 8-9month old.  As far as I am aware, an i-plate is not needed in these circumstances.

Re: At my wits end......

I think it depends on how the filtered faceplate is wired in - basically the iplate disconnects the ring wire from the circuit rather than filtering anything so it could make a difference.
It looks like another engineer was scheduled for this morning, hopefully there'll be more news shortly.

Re: At my wits end......

Well...... All the engineer did, was replace my filtered faceplate with a BT one, and replace the cable from the dropwire to the master socket, which was only around a year old anyway.  Not really made any difference..
Rate:          5357 kbs  87 kbs
Max Rate: 6665 kbs 492 kbs
Noise Margin: 10.3 dB 24.7 dB
Attenuation: 47.7 dB 26.8 dB
Output Power: 20.1 dBm 12.0 dBm
This is really now becoming ludicrous.  Every BT engineer that attends states he does not know what to do next.  WELL I DO.  Look at each joint on the line for a start and remake as nessessary, then we KNOW the line is OK.

Re: At my wits end......

Well rebooted the router yesterday, and things looked up, had a resonably decent upload and download. This lasted for a few hours and then upload went to pot again, and attenuation increased.  Did the same again this aft, and again, got resonable syncs, after a router reboot, and then a couple of hours later, resyncs, with a crud upstream sync rate, currently around 108kbps.  JUST WHATS GOING ON!!!!!

Re: At my wits end......

Hi penfold,
From what I can see the fault has been passed to the complex faults team, one of our agents is calling up now to chase this for you - there should be an update soon.

Re: At my wits end......

Thanks Matt, you can probably see how frustrating this is......
Currently syncing at 5826/135, but 10mins ago was at 7355/86.  If BT have checked this line, and state there is no fault, then ergo, it must be an exchange issue.
If we cannot resolve, is it possible to move back to 20CN, as a trial, see if that cures it.  I never had these issues on 20CN as far as I can recall.  If this cures it, then it must be the 21CN equipment.t
