BT was a monopoly, and despite the de-regulation of the telecoms market, they still hold a controlling share in the UK.

Quote Why was Plus net injected with some money a few years back.
Not sure what you mean here? We were bought out, not injected with cash. We still have to operate at a profit.

Quote from: AndyH The disconnection charges have been in contracts for as long as ADSL has been offered.
I believe the cessation charge for non-LLU lines was announced at the end of 2006 to be introduced mid-2007. Seemingly not actually applied until Sept 2008 however:

If you migrate using the supplied MAC you *DONT* have to pay the £25 fee.
However, check the fees your new provider may charge if you leave them without using your MAC as it's often more than PN charge.

Just in case you hadn't read the BT small print or misunderstood their T&Cs, have a look at this: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/01/16/bt_asa_ruling_line_rental/

They have made you two offers, if you're still not happy then you have other options
Plus.net cannot operate at a loss and I wouldn't want them to try
(and no, I do not work for them, just a 10+ years happy customer)

Quote from: rookey How you know they made me 2 offers?
Because he can read!
Quote from: Chris Rookey
You contacted our Customer Options Team, they made you an offer. You weren't happy with is so the offer was enhanced to give you a different offer, unfortunately you deemed this wasn't acceptable either. There has to be a cut-off point otherwise we may as well ask customers to name their own prices, I can't see what we've done wrong here?

What would be the point of them making an offer to you with negligible profit margin if you are not prepared to make any form of commitment in return?

As I said before, it is costing you more money by not paying in advance for your line rental.
For the broadband charges - once your exchange becomes reclassified by OFCOM, I think you should save £7 a month with PN on the unlimited package.
