Re: Automatic Notification of BRAS Profile Changes

I'm in favour - but perhaps not an email.
The amount of information available could be supplied by the user fingering Plusnet periodically - perhaps on a weekly basis.
That way, only those who understand the slightly techy end of things would know how to get this information.

Re: Automatic Notification of BRAS Profile Changes

Great idea as many PN customers are technically competent enough to self-diagnose.
It could also help those who have referrals they support.
As a PN cost saving exercise it definitely has it's merits. (Note to bean counters) Wink
Not so sure about the email notification though.

Re: Automatic Notification of BRAS Profile Changes

I would just have it as something which could be accessed through the members area - then it could include a rolling list with either a time limit or a number of reports limit

I'd really appreciate this info being available in the Member Centre.

Sync information and BRAS profile changes are both very good ideas

Re: Automatic Notification of BRAS Profile Changes

Sorry to be sarcastic but it seems to me that the first step would be to make sure PNs profile kept up with any increase in BTs.  I'm not the only person to experience PNs profile holding back my download speed when I have had a much better IP profile reported by BT Speedtester and still been waiting to PNs systems to wake up a day or two later.
On the other hand, a facility to view both quickly and easily would make such occurences more obvious.
Generally sounds a good idea though I'd rather not have it by email, I like the idea of some kind of history list (or a graph)

I really like this idea, and will pass it on to our web dev team as I believe they're currently looking at some My Account improvements. No promises mind Wink
We do actually keep the IP profile info internally, so it may not be that hard to push that onto the portal, same goes for cut down versions of our RADIUS records.

Re: Automatic Notification of BRAS Profile Changes

Would it be possible to write a screen-scraper (possibly using wget) which could be run as a background job by those blessed with a Linux OS?

Re: Automatic Notification of BRAS Profile Changes

I would certainly welcome additional info on the portal.
The only way I know of getting the BT profile is by BT Speedtest and that is not always available.
I agree with the idea of an 'advanced' users section in the connections settings for those with the knowledge / confidence / need for this.
