I love sport... I want PN to give me excellent access to the internet at the best possible price, ... I choose to watch my sport, mainly cricket, via Sky for which I am prepared to pay a substantial fee.
Therefore Plusnet, please remain a sport free zone
If sport could be added to PlusNet at no extra cost (indeed, it might attract more revenue thus being financially beneficial), would you have any objections?
Quote I certainly don't want to be paying so that other people can watch 22 morons kicking one another as well as the round ball
Are you interested in odd-shaped balls?
BT Sport has the right to Rugby Union: Aviva Premiership French Top 14 European Rugby Sevens Rugby
I've little idea what any of that means as I don't follow rugby: however, unlike other posters here, I have no objection to other people enjoying things I don't.

What you are hoping for is to get content which PN will have to pay for, delivered to you for no additional cost (over that of providing connectivity) to you. In other words you want all PN subscribers to (one way or another) subsidise you enjoying your pleasures. This being the case it seems reasonable to me, that those of us who have no interest in sport (particularly football) and wish only to receive a connectivity service from PN do have a clear right to say so in this public forum, regardless of what you believe to be on or off your topic.
Only in the unlikely circumstance that PN's (or BT's) cost of delivering content is zero can anyone rightly claim that these services are delivered for free. One way or another everyone will be paying for this regardless of their desire to do so or intention to consume.
As for your porn analogy, that just does not 'stack up' - it might well be out there and one chooses not to view it, but PN are not carrying the cost (and one way or another passing that on to the consumer) of it being there. If you want to draw analogies to support your case, it would be useful if they were comparable.

At the moment the only way to get BT Sport is either to subscribe to Sky & pay an extra £12 per month to BT or sign up to BT Broadband and get it free.
My son is already asking when we can get BT Sport.......

That is on the one hand a really honest position, though on the other hand, if subscribers can get it apparently for free from BT... are the likely to accept an explicit charge from PN for the delivery of content over and above the cost of providing a connectivity service?
May be the answer to your son is "When your pocket money allowance can contribute to the cost of it..." - it is a sad sign of our time that so many people expect everything for free, which usually means someone else (one way or another) is paying for it.
Cheers,
Kevin

Whilst I would, of course, be delighted if BT Sport were offered free, I'd just be happy if it were offered at all on PlusNet.
If it were offered as an add-on at £5 a month, I'd be more than happy to pay and stay.
Anything above that, and the BT offer of Broadband and BT Sport for £16 a month is more financially attractive.
The minimum contract term is 18 months and the £16 a month tariff only kicks in in month 7 - the first 6 months are free.
Come to think it -
PlusNet £10 a month for 18 months = £180
BT 6 months free then 12 months at £16 a month = £192
That'll be 12 months of BT Sport for £1 a month.
townman, I wasn't arguing that the cost of delivering content is zero.
I think it's obvious this is a loss leader for BT; it is, however, beneficial for BT to build subscriber numbers quickly, so there is a possibility for it to be provided free to PlusNet.
Certainly, your statement

is hypothetical speculation unless you are privy to negotiations between BT and PlusNet

Quote from: joncooper totally agree with the last post, no sport and free films would be good for me
Quote from: vilefoxdemonofdoom If there are all these freebies on offer, I'd like to sacrifice all sport in favour of a free film package.
Once again, I'd like to point out the thread subject is BT Sport.
If you want to fantasise about hypothetical offers, feel free to start your own thread.
