Re: Billing notices

Looking back through the thread; I'm hazarding a guess that the original payments system was setup when it was pretty much a fixed monthly payment sort of service - the home phone etc have all become available relatively recently (I'm sure they weren't available when I joined back in 2005?).  It is only really for the phone service that it should be an issue - my account is setup to have a limit if I go over my usage allowance - therefore I should not have any problems (hit £15 and then I get throttled and notified etc - pay more then and I know that my DD will not be more than £15).
Phone calls are more of a problem, but remember, the likes of BT can't even get the notification (and subsequent DD) right half the time.  For over a year now, my phone calls have been around 2/3 months behind where they should be and no amount of complaining sorted that out.

Re: Billing notices

Given how often we see billing problems relating to Home Phone and Plusnet's point blank refusal to change things so that errors can be corrected BEFORE the money is taken from user's accounts I would never ever contemplate for one second moving my phone to Plusnet and I'd say the same to anyone that asked.

Re: Billing notices

That's a good point jelv.  I don't have my phone with PN and am put off by the constant problems highlighted on the forums.  I wonder how many others think the same.  Maybe it's something PN need to ask.  They obviously have a list of all customers signed up to BB but not phone.  Maybe they need to be talking to us.

It's the one thing making me hesitate about taking Home Phone.
A complex system that does not work is invariably found to have evolved from a simpler system that worked just fine

It's fair to say that a lot of work has been carried out (and still is) to make improvements to our billing system.
So far we haven't received a lot of feedback along the lines to what has been mentioned on this thread, however some very good points have been made and I'm certain considerations will be made to making some further improvements in terms of notice periods where variable bills are concerned.

further in the phone topic one can read this
Quote from: Ben
As advised in other threads, our billing system was designed some time ago and to enact the changes that have been requested would require fundamental changes and probably a complete re-write. This is beyond the scope of what we are able to do at the moment and the foreseeable future.
Sorry.

customers are  to be kept like this
and  its saving plusnet money on changing  their system

Re: Billing notices

on payment methods or billing
this is basic business practice to a good  company  and should of been installed at the very beginning
we shouldn't be hearing on here how plusnet  often (and in the future )are willing to continue  taking and then hold people's money if in error

Re: Billing notices

Without fanning the flames too much, would you have preferred us to not roll out 20Mbps on Value? We have limited resources and cannot address everything that would be nice to fix.

Re: Billing notices

BT your parent company
should fund you properly so that you  are able to easily update your billing system
instead  of their shareholders hoovering much of  everything up
for their own profit

Re: Billing notices

That's not particularly constructive.
We are a separate company with separate and limited funding.
Updating our billing system is certainly not easy, regardless of available resources.
Edit: Typo

Well tell BT you have billing problems and ask them for a loan
to hell with doing business with uk companies and to discussing something here that is not likely to become a reality
is just deception

Re: Billing notices

I get the feeling that people are all getting a bit irritated here. Rather than this thread breaking out in to a spat, can everyone – staff and customers alike – please take a step back and let this thread take the form of a sensible debate.
