I am a new Plusnet customer and responded to a number of texts asking for mt feedback. I responded only to discover I had been charged for these texts.

Is this sort of sharp practice common.

Depends on who asked you.... Are you sure it was actually PlusNet ?  or was it some other firm asking you for your feedback ?  who, if, independent of Plusnet, are conducting surveys, yes, they will charge you for those texts... Why not... that`s how they make money...   

A scam that can easily be set up, to fool the unwary....
