No, I joined them (ZEN) because I was Pissed off with PNET.
They don't have dark age things, like dial up. I stopped using that about 15 years ago. Since then we have had the 20C and the 21C. They (Zen) have good value fibre optics too, which I might upgrade to. They have a one month contract because they know how good they are. PNET is 12 months or maybe more?
IT IS relevant because PNET are such a useless organisation. A good company years ago that has become so bad in the last few months that you have to be a bit silly, or  somewhat off colour, to stay with them.

Thanks for confirming that the comparison with your transfer to Zen was irrelevant to this case.

PN are the slowest at setting up DDs -they were so slow that I ended up having to pay by card and incurring the £1.50 charge Angry

Well they have assured me that the DD is set up, but nothing has hit my bank yet and other DD's are processing normally.
I've also added a credit card to my account as a backup but have absolutely no intention of paying a £1.50 surcharge.
And I know they have the correct bank details as they have been paying me for referrals.  Wink

...I had the opposite problem, the DD was showing as set up with my bank -but still pending with PN...to keep my service live I had to pay by card -out of 18 DDs switched, Plusnet were one of two I had an issue with!

It does make you wonder about their systems doesn't it.
My invoice was raised on 28th and still shows as "Pending", with nothing whatsoever reaching my bank - I've just checked.
On the other hand I had a message yesterday, via the ticket system, that all was on track to switch on Monday.  Cool

I think this has something to do with it:

You've probably just got a load of emails, some saying your account is active. Don't worry about them, that's just due to Adam manually moving the account through different states to get it ready. The broadband order has been placed (no phone as you only wanted broadband) for the 3rd.

They've ordered it for you without waiting for the payment I think.

Re: Coming back to PlusNet at last!

Yes, I'm assuming the manual processes have bypassed any "blocks" that the accounting systems might apply.
Nonetheless it's very strange that nothing has reached my bank, unless those interventions have also held back the payment request.
Or maybe they only run DD's once a week?
No point speculating today, I'll just wait for next week.  Cool

Re: Coming back to PlusNet at last!

@HPsauce
When it happened to me, PN hadn't progressed the DD adequately &, hence, couldn't take the money. Because I "hadn't paid", PN then blocked the transfer (after they had taken it from the previous ISP).
Having got onto them & made a CC payment, they carried on with the transfer!
However, the next notification that I got, from PN was telling me that I had cancelled the DD (I hadn't), but it transpires that their system had automatically cancelled the DD because of the one-off payment!

Re: Coming back to PlusNet at last!

John, I'm relaxed about it. I've already had far more attention and assistance from the staff here than I deserve so I'm sure they'll sort it out.  Cool

Yep, nothing concerning at the moment.

Re: Coming back to PlusNet at last!

I've just added a comment onto my ongoing ticket, namely that I've had no notification that a router is on its way as yet.
Given activation is due on Monday I would have though it would be on its way by now, but maybe no notification is generated due to the manual interventions.  Undecided
I have a couple of Netgear routers that I can configure quickly if necessary, so that's not a significant problem.

Ah. We *might* have missed that, I'll get one ordered first thing Monday. Really sorry about that.

Re: Coming back to PlusNet at last!

No panic, as I said it's not that critical (though to be fair I did restate it in the ticket when you started the manual "reassignment").

[color=navy]It's really good but don't know how long it will last once any back log has been sorted now that the new CS in Leeds is coming on stream (isn't it?)
Any permanent weekend online support via the Community forums  from the PN DCT/Staff would be a great bonus for Plusnet customers in general!

Re: Coming back to PlusNet at last!

Hi guys, this thread makes for an interesting read.  Smiley
Some tech staff  try to respond when they can, just as you can appreciate with the level of calls it's rare that we get the chance:)
The Leeds centre is open now and they are getting more people in there every week. We are seeing a significant reduction in queue times during the day. it's in the evenings where we still have a problem.
@HPsauce - I hope you get back connected with us without many other problems Smiley

Re: Coming back to PlusNet at last!

Well I seem to have arrived!  Grin
I was working on Be only a few minutes ago, then lost connection.
Checked my router and saw it had resynced at a lower speed (especially upstream  Cry ) so figured I was now connected to PN.
Interleaving and noise margin look very conservative, so I'm down from around 20mbps to 15.5 but that will do for now - let DLM do its evil work!  Lips_are_sealed
Changed the authentication and rebooted and here I am.  Wink
Pings are slower (26ms vs max 15ms) and downloads a bit slower of course, and uploads rubbish (see below). Overall performance seems fine, nice and "snappy" while browsing.
Upstream seems to be capped at a miserly 440kbps though, a third of what I'm used to.  Shocked Can someone uncap that please?
