And yes updates on my banks site took several days to appear on plusnets.

Another day, no change, but being the weekend I didn't expect any.
However the definition of "up to" clearly is rather different in the PlusNet dictionary to the rest of society.
Quote This can take up to 5 working days.

I ran some BT speed tests and saw poor uploads and an upstream IP profile of 0.83 (forgetting I'd already been told here of its irrelevance).
Stupidly I didn't cross-check by doing tests with other non-BT systems; the BT one had previously been fairly realistic for both up and down.
As a result of querying this PN staff have reset my line, it seems more than once. It seems that they too were unaware of the maximum upstream IP profile.
My noise margin seems to have increased as a result on both up and down. Let's hope it drops back soon.

I'm glad to see that your DD instructions are now set up and active. Hopefully on your next billing date things will go through smoothly.
With regards to the noise margin increasing please keep an eye on this for the next 48-72 hours and let us know if you encounter any problems.

As an aside, I see you requested and used a PN router, presumably the Technicolor one they usually supply. And yes, mine had a significantly shorter supply lead than the similar router my previous ISP had supplied. I simply swapped them (the supply lead). I was wondering why you didn't carry on with the Netgear router you already had, isn't it supposed to be better overall and much better wireless coverage? Having said that, this router seems slightly better than the last in that regard.
Fascinating to find out that my upload is actually capped, I had thought it rather slow. I'm a Linux hobbyist and tend to torrent the various distros. The client sees very little interest in using me as a peer, presumably due to how slow my connection appears to be. Download speed is brilliant, so I'm not really complaining. Should I raise a ticket on that, I wonder?
Anyway, I'll be following this drama with bated breath . . .

Fairly simple really, I think it's failing (hardware, probably failing capacitors).
Quote from: momist I was wondering why you didn't carry on with the Netgear router you already had
I'd already flashed it with DGTeam firmware which I've found to be very reliable in the past, but it started to have various wireless issues so I decided to replace it.
The PlusNet router is adequate for my needs.
As for the connection speed, I'm not sure how long I wait for DLM to do anything . After 36 hours of totally stable connection it's still on 6dB downstream (was on 3dB before the PN-triggered resets) and an incredible 12dB upstream.
If DLM doesn't wake up soon I'll connect one of my DGTeam Netgear routers (I have a selection) and tweak the SNR Margin myself.

Well something has changed since this morning, my upstream has reverted to 6dB and the sync speed is back to "normal" (for PlusNet that is).
Downstream is still on 6dB though, and has changed ever so slightly due to the resync for the upstream change.
Looks like it's a waiting game.
PS My upstream throughput at last looks almost sensible on the BT test, though 3rd-party ones are still higher and a better fit to the sync rate.

Thanks, they have, back on 3dB downstream now.
Quote from: _Adam_Walker_ I hope things continue that way for you.
I'm just thankful the old super-slow BT DLM was consigned to the dustbin of history a while back.
Just waiting for my monthly bill now, to see if it works this time. Interesting lessons re your DD system if it finally does.

(It's not showing YET as paid in my PN account, but we already know how slow this system is. )
Not bad considering I've been live for over 2 months now and you've had my (totally unchanged) bank details for literally years.
Thanks to all those who sadly had to manually intervene on the billing and the bright spark who finally sussed out a (surprisingly simple) solution.

On an associated note it appears that the old BeThere network is about to die (tomorrow) but that Sky haven't managed the transition totally smoothly so some people are being sent 3G dongles!
