Free Usage

Could someone please explain to me how the "free usage" works? I know if you go on the 'net between midnight and 8a.m. it is classed as free usage. Why then is it added to the paid for usage when calculating how much you have used? Surely this way it just bumps your total up? I'm new to Plusnet and would really welcome an explanation.
Thanks

Re: Free Usage

It's not added to your paid for usage, it is reflected in your overall usage though.
You should see a split between the two.

Re: Free Usage

Note also this caveat on the VMBU page - "The data on this page may not include usage from the last 2 hours".
A complex system that does not work is invariably found to have evolved from a simpler system that worked just fine

Re: Free Usage

Basically, it allows you to see exactly how much usage you are using on your connection in total (unlike most other ISPs who keep it a secret).
It is then split into paid & free usage, so that you can see if you're within your limits for the month.

Re: Free Usage

One or two very old packages had limits on off-peak usage but this went out of the window many years ago.
