Re: G.Fast will available soon?

@jab1

Here's some detail on the copper VOIP

https://www.theregister.com/2020/03/03/openreach_ip_voice_network/

The plan appears to be to switch off the PSTN (ie voice) network leaving the copper in place for internet.

Yep, think that is where I read it myself @bmc , but it seems to have stalled and gone very quiet, although it is still referenced on the BT Availability checker.

@jab1

I suspect it'll only really come into play when they start trying to close down the PSTN part of an Exchange. Any customer not on the Internet will be given a SOGEA phone connection (whether they like it or not!).

Re: G.Fast will available soon?

Plusnetg and other ISPs offer a home move option, what f you are moving to one of these stop sell locations?Huh

 or change ISP in one of these areas? IE Sky/Talk talk or other  LLU to openreach, or VM to openreah

The advice on the openreach states that in the event of a powercut  is this

" Most people in the UK have a mobile phone, so the advice is just as you do today, use this as a backup in case there is a power cut."

But yet if you are in an area with a weather warning, this will advise that the area may expect powercuts due to the weather, and a loss of mobile phone reception due to the powercuts ( knocking out the base stations)
