Re: Greedy BT offshoot

Ditto. And I think jelv's last 2 posts reflect a general situation.
@Andyfuture
If you ask for your MAC and leave before the end of your contract period then you have to pay for any deferred contract charges and cancellation charges. That applies to everyone and ALL ISP's, so your ranting about that will get nowhere.
Now if I've understood this correctly you've been stung £5 for just going over your usage allowance to add another 5Gb. So the fact that you hadn't read all the Ts&Cs, FAQ's, legal stuff and logged into the member centre and Managed your usage to avoid the extra charge isn't your own fault? What have Plusnet said about what they intend to do about the situation where customers are unaware of this?
Having said that, the need to limit any extra spend is easily messed. Many have been here complaining, with many other forum members, myself included, supporting the need to make this more obvious and by default setting extra spend to zero. Now if Plusnet have given you no indication about what they are going to do about this, then perhaps it's this you should be ranting about, and if you were to do it in a less objectionable manner you might find a lot more supportive comment.

Re: Greedy BT offshoot

Just wanted to chime in and say that I have been a Plusnet customer for only a matter of months, and what a breath of fresh air. I was with a well known provider before and the customer service was truly appalling (shame on me for staying with them so long).
I also had slow speeds at peak times. I just assumed this was a fact of life no matter what provider I went with.
Since I got Plusnet I noticed my speed runs at full rate 24/7. Oh how I wish I had moved away from my old provider sooner!
Customer service is second to none, very professional, and they genuinely try and resolve your issues rather than fob you off.
I might sound like an advert for Plusnet, but I don't work for them, and I don't have any loyalty to them other than just being a user. But credit where credit is due - I find the service brilliant.

I'm finding that most of the members on here love plusnet so much that no real feedback that is negative can be left on here, even though the heading says your feedback! Roll on the 12th that's all I can say!
" Anotherone" you should try applying for a job with them they need people like you to work for them to carry on their lack of respect for the customer services!
Maybe someone here should take note of what their customers say about them and maybe keep a few of them rather them leaving with a bad taste in their mouth

Re: Greedy BT offshoot

Perhaps you need to get out more and read a bit more, because that's not the case. Whilst Plusnet are far better than most ISP's (suggest you give TalkTalk a whirl, read some of the comments about them round here), Plusnet are still far from perfect and there are times when they make an absolute pig's ear of something. But invariably make plenty of effort to try and resolve things, and I will criticise when I feel the need, for example read this http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,108310.msg931563.html#msg931563

Re: Greedy BT offshoot

IM with Andy on this. Im very Rural and have been without a landline service for over 2 months, with constant excuses from PN. It really cant be that difficult. I regularly go over my broadband allowance and im happy to pay the extra, no problems at all. However, If i was elderly or infirm and didnt have a mobile phone i would have really big problems. The customer service has been one long stream of we are putting it on hold, we are handing it back,  txt after txt after txt and not one phone call even though i was promised by a PN employee that she would take personel responsibilty for my issue's and she would phone me back. she lied of course. Customer service !!!!!

Re: Greedy BT offshoot

Plusnet certainly have no excuse for not phoning you back if they promised, how recently did this happen? If you live in an area covered by the MBORC then you've been very unlucky because of BT OpenReach's lack of resources, which isn't Plusnet's fault. It will be easier for a member of Plusnet's  DigiCare Team to try and help with your issues if you could provide some more information on the other thread that you started.

Quote from: Andyfuture
happily in my job I'm often asked to recommend isp's and as you can tell I won't be sending any customers this way!

You're perfectly entitled to do this but you may be sending your 'customers' out of the frying pan and into the fire!
The reason that this forum appears to be full of Plusnet 'fans' is simple, it's because Plusnet are a good ISP, in the price bracket in which they operate they are almost certainly the best for the majority of customers.
If you have a particular issue the staff are usually quite good at addressing it.  No ISP is perfect, most are a long way off to be honest, but I see so many posts on a regular basis about just how poor other ISPs are that I'm happy to stick with Plusnet.  Read and understand the Ts& Cs for your account, set a limit on additional usage, be polite  (and a little understanding) and you will then see the benefits of being here.  I might sound like a 'fanboy' in this post but I'm as ready as anyone to migrate for a genuinely 'better deal'.  I just don't see foreign call centres with staff working from scripts as being of any benefit to me when I currently get a good service and an acceptable (if not perfect) response to problems - add to that the forum where complaints are usually acknowledged and dealt with in a manner that other ISPs must surely be envious of.  Sorry if your experience is not as good as that of the majority of customers but  I can assure you that, short of paying a LOT more for your service you'll probably not find an ISP anything like this good.

Re: Greedy BT offshoot

Further to W23's comment, if the source of Andy's problem is with the infrastructre provided by BT Open (cannot quite) Reach then no matter which non-cable ISP he switches to, he will still have the same problem until the cause is resolved by BTOR.
As you stated several times, this is a feedback forum: whilst Andy has the right to tell everyone how bad you believe your experience of PN has been, please respect the rights of those of us who feel we have had excellent service from PN to say so.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Greedy BT offshoot

I second those other posters who say they have had great service from PN, I have tried all the other major ISP's and PN is by far the best in terms of customer service, uptime and cost.

Re: Greedy BT offshoot

I left in February this year for TT purely for financial reasons. I never regretted that decision as I needed (had) to make some immediate savings but it was an eye opener. I bided my time till I could come back and the recent price increase gave me that opportunity.
PN are not perfect as many may have seen by my posts regarding overcharging, lack of router and DD issues. But each issue has been resolved quickly, with minimum fuss and to my satisfaction.
While with TT I was never able to say that any issues (of which I had a few) were ever resolved to my satisfaction.
Will I have further problems with PN at some time? Most likely. Will they be resolved quickly? Most likely? Will I change ISP again? Probably unlikely.
