Re: Heading for 2nd no show in 24hrs

Karen,
The BT profile figure is wrong - May be DCT can get it poked in BT's systems.  This seems to be a recent reoccurring theme.

Kevin it was reset by the engineer yesterday to 1.5, by this morning it was back to 1  Cry

Re: Heading for 2nd no show in 24hrs

That means that at some point you have synced below 1439kb/s. As you are on 20CN it could take a few days to rise again.

Re: Heading for 2nd no show in 24hrs

Karen,
Not seeking to argue your assertion, but usually the only thing which can be set is the target SNRM.  IP profile follows the synch speed - it should be 88.2% of the synch speed.  DCT will hopefully pick this up.  Would be worthwhile updating your ticket on this point.

Karen,
Ignore what Kevin has posted - he's either overlooking that you are on 20CN or ignorant of the differences.

Re: Heading for 2nd no show in 24hrs

Tsk, tsk, now, now children. Wink
From engineers report. "port reset and BRAS reset now in sync at 1824 kbps down 448kbps up snr7" ?
That was yesterday, and the IP at the exchange was showing as 1.5 , it took a while for PN to catch up last night and then this morning it was down the pan again at 1 Mbps
Make of that what you will, I do 'puters, I don't really do all this broadband signal/speed/SNR nonsense.  Roll_eyes However, any light that anyone can shed on it would be great.  Smiley

Re: Heading for 2nd no show in 24hrs

On 20CN the IP Profile is set at fixed values by the DLM - see http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/broadband_terminology.shtml#ipProfile. If the sync speed drops to put you in to a lower band the drop in IP profile is very quick. However rises have to be stable for a period of up to 5 days before the IP Profile is increased.
There's a lot of good information here: http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/IPprofile.htm

Re: Heading for 2nd no show in 24hrs

Hi Jelv
A bit of reading for me then.
At first glance the IP should be 1.25, if and when it catches up. Ongoing fault I'm afraid then, despite the engineer's work yesterday. It stabilises for months at 1.5 and then we are back to this, at worst it goes to 0.14  Sad
Thanks again

Hi Karen,
I'm aware Tom is still monitoring your account on Ticket: 85534360 - can you update the ticket with any information for Tom to investigate further for you if required?

Re: Heading for 2nd no show in 24hrs

I certainly can and will Linn, thought the poor lad needed a rest from me whinging in his ear though. Wink
Also presumed he would see the drop in speed again, would he not?
Thank you

Hi Jelv,
I think I know of you well enough to know your intent was well meant, but you could have said that a little better with a link to the clarification in the first instance, if only for Karen's benefit.  You are though quite right, I had forgotten the different characteristics of 20CN.  Embarrassed
Karen,
Sorry for any confusion I might have caused.

Re: Heading for 2nd no show in 24hrs

No worries Kevin, just been wading my through all that stuff Jelv pointed me at.
Still not altogether clear about the role of DLM - in reaction times going up, one place seems to say 5 days, another 3 and a third, says it is dependent on the percentage amount of the change. Yikes.  Huh

Re: Heading for 2nd no show in 24hrs

Yeah, I'm sure if he has a look he'll be able to spot it, however, if it's intermittent and the speed is fluctuating then if he doesn't look at it when you're seeing the drop then he may not catch it. If you update the ticket when the drop happens there's a more likely chance of him spotting it Smiley

Re: Heading for 2nd no show in 24hrs

Karen,
If your speed is fluctuating, it might be worthwhile installing RouterStats to closely monitor line performance.  Do ask if you need help configuring it, somehow I doubt that YOU will have any difficulty with it.  Running it 24x7 can tell you an awful lot about what is happening.

Re: Heading for 2nd no show in 24hrs

Ummmm, aye, but it's the IP profile that has dropped at the exchange as well Linn.
Done anyway.  Smiley
