Re: Hello from a soon to be ex Virgin customer

Having to put up with Virgin Media ADSL Narrowband service for over six weeks.  I have decided today to switch to plusnet.  I was chatting to one of the CS team and he was very helpful.  Unlike VM where they made you pay to phone their CS and not getting an answer.

Re: Hello from a soon to be ex Virgin customer

This post by a NEW customer basically sums up what sort of cowboys Virgin Media are -
"Hello again all,

Similar problems to all of the above posters; I have been with VM now for just over 10 days and am at less than half a meg every evening, with actuall download speeds much less.

I have just been on with Customer Service who despite admitting that this fault was in place prior to my contract starting I will still be liable of early contract termination charges."

Totally disgraceful!!!!!!!!!

Re: Hello from a soon to be ex Virgin customer

yeah was working fine for me to up until yesterday when i got banned lol, not really bothered now i left them, if i helped a few people getting their mac codes, by sending a few to people who wanted them then it was worth it. its just a shame we had to help ourselfs in end, and not virgin helping us, good ridence is all i can say to customer services there. with one exception and that was good old susan smith who seemed to be the only person to even care, so credit where credit is due there:)

Re: Hello from a soon to be ex Virgin customer

your not missing much nitty, they reckoned it was going to be fixed yesterday, it wasnt, same old same old,
and funny thing, since i pointed out that speedtest.net is being given priority over VM's network and recommending the thinkbroadband test suddenly they are advising people to use thinkbroadband's tester, didnt even get an acknowledgement!
by the way did they ban you for giving out susans email adress? because their rules state very clearly that your not allowed to post email addresses, says nothing about PM's

Re: Hello from a soon to be ex Virgin customer

Hello all,
Just joining from Virgin, in fact I think I am quoted above from the VM forums!
Anyway, I got my MAC Code from Susan Smith thanks to some very helpfull PMs.  For those of you banned I will pass on the information on VM's forums as long as I can.
Looking forward to getting connected with Plusnet.

Hi Paul , welcome to Plusnet.
Lol yeah it was you that I quoted , really glad you managed to get a Mac code and get away from them.
Won't be too long and all the misery will be behind you.
Cheers
Paul.

I did read on the service status page they had a flood in one of their exchanges, which "was causing major problems to our customers".
Hmm so these slow speeds are now an act of god?

so basically now their blaming the fire at paddington, and saying it was at one of their exchanges... anyone else smell that?

Although it was at a BT Exchange it is quite possible to cause disruption to anyone else who terminates through OR at paddington.
This includes VM - and several mobile phone operators Smiley (so not necessarily the same smell you had Wink )

Re: Hello from a soon to be ex Virgin customer

i dont doubt that VM were affected by the fire too, the issue i have with that statement is the specific problems with VM at the moment are down to them not having enough bandwith to maintain a decent speed, so everyone gets forced down to 500kbps from 5 til midnight, as i understand it the paddington issue was about people having problems connecting in the first place
