Re: Hello from a soon to be ex Virgin customer

again, not necessarily. Paddington exchange wouldnt be authenticating users (e.g. People connecting to the exchange, which would mean no connection available)
it is also possible that the data that should be routed through here, had to take an alternative route - which would mean more congestion over any other route.
So VM quite possibly could of had some fibre through there, or using that exchange to peer several of those back to one of their nodes - this would of meant considerable bandwidth limitations (as described) but ofc Smiley depends how long the speeds been that slow, if it doesnt coinside....  Roll_eyes

well the speeds were like that when i signed up with VM at the beginning of march, so i think i can say with some authority that this particular problem isn't the issue  Undecided thank god for PN is all i can say  Cool now if only there was a truly unlimited downloads option i would have absolutely no complaints  Grin cheers for the informative post though, gives a little insight into the way the network works

ahh, good good Smiley
Know anyone else? bring them over with you (Make sure they get you as the referrer though - good way to save a couple of quid!)
Glad your happy, most people here just schedule downloads overnight (Some people using NAS drives with 'bittorrent' software in, or schedule on servers / machines on 24/7) Smiley
OR Pay through the nose at £5 / 5gig on the Pro Package Smiley

How you getting on Usage wise so far Martin?
I have only used 18.62gig of my 80 since 19th March so I recon I will only hit perhaps 30-35gig in total for the month  Smiley

Paid-for usage 31.14GB
Free usage: 24.28GB
Total usage: 55.42GB
to be fair though, i went away for a week, so what would normally go onto the free usage to save it went onto paid cuz i had "usage to spare" billing date is the 15th so i reckon ill probly hit about 40 ish by then
