@skycatcherx - I've been advised that you would need to call us within 30 days of receiving the email to let us know you're leaving so we can ensure the early termination fees are removed from the account.

 

@Glenn - Sorry that you're unhappy with the price rise. The previous price rise you're referring to was last September, 12 months prior to the upcoming price rise.

This raises the issue of which ISP is a recommended ISP?

There are a few that you wouldn't choose!

with sky  if you sign up from a installer  the line rental is around £14

Will the 40/2 FTTC be upgraded to 55/10 with these price increases

No , only connections that are 40/20 ( provisioned on 80/20) are getting moved to 55/10

Thanks for replys,  do you think that if I use the price increase for a reson to cancel my contract there would be a chance of getting put on the 55/10 service

It possible , as they are already ordering that package for others (55/10)

Also BT are selling their 55/10 package ( when taking line) for £ 12.50 a month via Uswitch 

£ 80 master card , and £ 40 next voucher , although their is a £ 49.99 setup fee.

The main problem with the new system is it is now easier fro companies to change you over without you knowing or talking people into moving when they do not really want to. companhies are not evben allowed to call you now as far as i know to make sure that is what you want.

True. The system seems to have swung the other way (perhaps too far) from the original system. Then you had to persuade your existing ISP to issue a MAC number that YOU needed to give to the new ISP. The two ISPs didn't talk. Some ISPs (remaining nameless in case they get legal) were obstructive. In my personal experience discussions like "oh the system is down, can you call back in a week" or "it takes a month to issue a code and there is a fee". were obstacles put there to discourage changing.

We can see that ISPs can change their products and prices to suit their interests rather than those of their customers. Anything that make it easier for customers to respond has to be a good thing. Lack of security is not inherent in that freedom, just lazy processes.

Unfortunately not as you're not on the 40/20 service currently.

The only customers moving to 55/10 are the ones currently on 40/20.

@HarryB i know that,  maybe i was not very clear, what i meant, it is possible  to move 40/2 to 55/10,

PN just choose not to at the moment.
