Re: IP addresses not UK - Can customers please report any problems here

It either didn't load or loaded slowly - very slowly! - but then stopped. I actually got to sign in once but then could do no more. I didn't get a 'you're not in uk' message like a previous posters example, I either got nothing, it just froze, or a 'can't establish a secure connection to server' message on white screen would come up eventually.
As I said this was with all my devices at home, all of which worked fine when I decamped to a coffee shop, but still didn't work when I got back home.
Eventually found this thread last night. Afraid I am a little technologically challenged but saw on my router page the IPv4 address which I assumed is what was referred to in others posts and this was 146.200.14.107 and since this was similar to the ones quoted as problematic I did the disconnect again (I had tried earlier in the day to no avail) and this changed to an 80.189……. and everything was back working!

Hmm, I wonder if it's in some way related to the issues being reported here (although the people complaining over there are all on the new network from what I can tell, which I don't think you are).
If it happens again, would be useful to see a traceroute to the site.

I don't think that's related.

Re: IP addresses not UK - Can customers please report any problems here

As of today, ARIN is still stating that IP address range 146.199.0.0 to 146.199.255.255 is allocated to INFONET Services Corporation, albeit it acknowledges PlusNet. http://whois.arin.net/rest/ip/146.199.76.97. Ookla and TeamSpeak think I'm in the USA, and I've had slow connections with some web pages.

Re: IP addresses not UK - Can customers please report any problems here

I know what Bob has been saying, but I'm scratching my head a bit with this. If you follow the link, I see nothing on the page that says PLUSNET2 is geo-located in the UK, so it really comes as no surprise that people that prepare some of the geolocation databases get it wrong.
Strange thing is, that using https://www.iplocation.net/ it shows the ISP as Infonet Services Corporation located in London!!

Unless I'm missing something it doesn't say where it is at all.

But if you click on the INFO at the end of the Organisation line, it says INFONET Services Corporation is in El Segundo, CA !!

I've said this before but I'll say it again - I doubt this is going to change any time soon.
What is important is that the IP's are registered correctly with the relevant geo-location services.

Re: IP addresses not UK - Can customers please report any problems here

Can 'Bob Pullen' take a look at topic "DSLReports bufferbloat test says my ISP is "Net1Plus" !" as "Net1Plus" is in the USA !
It is probably not necessarily the same issue this thread, so I started a new topic for this specific case, to not take this thread off topic !

IP Address assigned in wrong region

I keep getting assigned IP address that are registered in foreign countries and this is causing issues getting to some of my regular websites that restrict access to non-UK residents. Customer support say the chances of getting these addresses are slim and if you leave the router off for over an hour a new address is assigned and this works but just assigns another foreign address. I've had four out of five foreign addresses so far (most in US but one in Indonesia).  Anyone know if there is anything I can do to keep a UK address once one is assigned or will this entail having to leave the router on 24 x 7? This has been ongoing for three days now and it starting to get annoying - Customer support agent seemed to know of the issue did not raise a support ticket for tracking progress and there are no messages of the issue on the website.

Re: IP Address assigned in wrong region

The issue is with the GeoIP providers not updating their records.

Then after they have updated their records, each company that uses them has to update their records.

As you can imagine it can take months and months for them to eventually get updated.

Which sites are you having issues with?

Some of the guys on the forum will be able to confirm if they've contacted the companies or not.
