Re: IP Address assigned in wrong region

@HarryB gambling sites do have to block USA IPs accessing their sites.

That's why you will see them disproportionately affected by incorrect geolocating.

Re: IP Address assigned in wrong region

I'm aware of that @ScottStorey

I was just pointing out that I thought Townman was saying they were simply not updating their geo-location data Wink

HarryB wrote:
I think @Townman was referring to the fact that they aren't updating the geo-location data

He then posted 2 minutes after me saying:

Re: IP Address assigned in wrong region

@HarryB fair enough!

Wasn't clear from the thread if people were aware it had to be blocked.

Most sites you just annoyingly get prices in the wrong currency rather than not work at all.

Re: IP Address assigned in wrong region

Can't see any method of contacting that second site, and I can't find an easy way to look up the 209 address on MX Tools either (without being assigned the address myself).

Re: IP Address assigned in wrong region

So what can i do? Why am getting assigned these addresses last few weeks?

Some of them seem to be on a blacklist also Sad

I notice that some other threads and there is still an Issue with IP being listed as 'Infonet Services'

https://www.whatismyip.com/ip-whois-lookup/?iref=ip-lookup see attachment

My current IP 209.93.93.141 on Gatweay psb-ir01

That depends. What problems are you experiencing? Those two sites reporting incorrectly isn't an issue in itself.

You've been moved to our new broadband network and IP's are now assigned based partially on region. It's possible that the only IP's available to you at the moment are in the 209.93.0.0/16 subnet until more people are moved across and more IP's are made available.

Some of them seem to be on a blacklist also Sad

I wouldn't worry too much about that. The majority, if not all, of our dynamic IP's will be on Spamhaus' PBL list. This is intentional. I'm not familiar with the Sky list, but it seems that it's primarily used as an anti-spam filter. As long as you're not running your own mail server, this shouldn't present you with problems.

I notice that some other threads and there is still an Issue with IP being listed as 'Infonet Services'

That's not an issue either and the IP's are likely to remain registered to Infonet, at least in the short/medium term.

Re: IP Address assigned in wrong region

I have the same issue, i.e. an ip address from the 209.93.xxx.xxx range. As a result, some websites automatically redirect me to their US equivalent (e.g. .cunard.co.uk redirects to cunard.com & crosswater.co.uk redirects to crosswater-bathrooms.com), this is causing me a problem as I can't access the UK content on these sites that I need.

I've tried at least 5x times powering down my router for a minimum of 65 mins as advised by the online help team but I continue to get an ip address in the same range.

Is there anyway to fix this issue, even if I switched to a fixed ip address how could ensure it came from a 'UK' block'

Thanks Ed

Does anyone know if this is actually being sorted by Plusnet? I'm still getting $$s for buying options instead of ££s when looking at product reviews on road.cc website.

Re: IP addresses not UK - Can customers please report any problems here

As above, is anything being done on this?

I have to visit several betting websites a day (I'm not gambling on them, although even if I wanted to I should be able to!), and they're all blocked.  I'm having to use 3G on PAYG instead and the cost is racking up.  What would Plusnet say if I sent the bill on to them?

Sites that are still not working:

https://betfred.mobi/

https://sport.netbet.co.uk/ (after login)

https://www.unibet.co.uk/ (on depositing money)

Re: IP addresses not UK - Can customers please report any problems here

Have you tried asking those website service providers why their geo-location data is out of date?

As @bobpullen has advised, PlusNet have sought to update the location data and it got regressed by people who sell the data to the betting sites.

It is the site who have got this wrong - have you made your feelings known to them?  have you made them aware of what THEY are loosing out on by not having current geo-location data?
