Panel Opinion state

"Please find below the IP address that is showing on our system:
2018-02-03 16:16:26 146.199.xxx.xxx United States
I hope that helps resolve the problem with your internet provider."

What can we do, I've missed out of better part of £10 in surveys over the last few weeks because of this issue

Tell Panel Opinion that IP address blocks allocated to ISPs continually change and that they should be using a 2017 (or later) lookup table. You could ask them to tell you when they last updated their table.

Also, for the surveys you've been unable to participate in, if you know the companies that Panel Opinion is working on behalf of you could contact them direct and tell them about the issues you are having.

Re: IP addresses not UK - Can customers please report any problems here

I cannot access https://systmonline.tpp-uk.com/  It’s important because it’s the GP system for repeat prescriptions and appointments.

It just freezes on the linking page or blank in a new tab.   It used to work up to a couple of weeks ago.

Router: Netgear DGN2200

Same on any device / OS / browser.   I’ve tried changing DNS

Systmonline works through phone mobile data (wifi off) through Vodafone Suresignal
Curiously enough through house router.  Not ideal because it’s a small screen.

It works next door and they’re on TalkTalk (spit!)

I tried changing the router’s MAC but got the same IP address.

Further to that - I've used a VPN that comes with my antivirus and it works there but not ideal.

Spoke to my surgery this afternoon who contacted TPP and they didn't really seem to care.

Re: IP addresses not UK - Can customers please report any problems here

Hi

I'm not sure if this is related to this issue, but I have just started having a problem with https://www.totesport.com/.  Having worked fine until last Saturday afternoon, I am now having exactly the same problem as in message 411.  I press the login button but nothing happens.

I have tried a laptop and a desktop; 4 different browsers, clearing my cache & cookies and resetting my password.  I can log in via my mobile, using my PlusNet wifi.  I can also access the website fine from my work PC.

As of yet, Totesport haven't been a great help, suggesting I do what I have already tried, though they did say they had changed their website.

Does anyone have any ideas please?

Thanks

David

Re: IP addresses not UK - Can customers please report any problems here

Hi David,

A warm welcome to the forums.

I recommend that next time you encounter the problem, you note your external IP address.  Then ask the service supplier if they are blocking accessing based on the IP address.  If yes, ask them why are they (incorrectly) treating the IP address as being external to the UK.  Advise that their geolocation data provider is supplying defective data.

Hi Townman

Many thanks for your welcome and your reply.

I shall follow your advice.  I am not up to speed on IP addresses, but does the fact that I can access it on my mobile via my Plusent wifi not mean that the site isn't blocked for me?  Or will that generate a different IP address?

David

Re: IP addresses not UK - Can customers please report any problems here

Hi David,

Your assessment is very sound - this does put a different slant on things.  If at the same time, connected via your Plusnet internet service, your PC cannot access the service and your phone can, then it more points to a problem with the PC.  Which browser are you using on there?

There are now a lot of websites which are not as browser capable aware as they should be.  There are other websites (for example eBay selling) which have become all but unusable on PCs with 'moderate' memory sizes (e.g, just 3GB).

At the moment, the service status tool provided by Plusnet does not load if using IE11.

Can’t get into Paddy Power app or into website via WiFi! Says something about restricted territory not being allowed to bet(see screenshot!)
Spoke to Paddy Power who said ISP might be running ip from another country.......

Apparently my IP address is 146.198.31.35
and is in uk (Leicester I believe), which last time I checked was allowed to gamble!

Discuss............

Power Paddy have got it wrong - they are using incorrect geolocation data from a poor provider as your own research indicates. Discuss!

Re: IP addresses not UK - Can customers please report any problems here

Put your IP address in to https://www.iplocation.net/

Four of the geo location utilities get it right - MaxMind get it wrong!

Edit: Interesting a lookup on their own site gets it right.

Re: IP addresses not UK - Can customers please report any problems here

Many thanks, Kelly.

FYI, If I recall correctly (I am at work at the moment), my IP address is also 146.198.xxx.xxx

Townman  - I have tried 4 different browsers and 2 different PCs to no avail!
