Hi Matt....it did go through, just took these router stats and it has improved:
DSL Connection

Just waiting for my current line speed of 7Mb in my Plusnet account to go up in line with the BTw IP Profile that just now said 8.08Mbps.
Thanks  Smiley

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

Oh dear, that's not all good news. According to my calculations you've gone from 6.75 HEC errors per minute to 21.31 HEC errors per minute. It looks like the higher noise margin was helping your line quite a bit.

Looks like the profile has picked up now, I'm glad to say Smiley
@jelv I think he was aware of that, but would rather live with the errors and the faster speed?

Everything was better when my target was 6dB....my browsing was noticeably faster and my file downloading was faster too, even with the error rates being as high as they were.

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

Hi Matt....just checked my Plusnet current line speed and it's at 8Mb now.It does seem to have caught up....but it was at 8.3Mb before.Wonder if it will pick up a bit more.....would a restart of my router get it up a bit more or would that be a bad idea ?  Smiley
Yeah I was aware of the error rates but I was happy enough with the higher speed and my browsing and file download speeds were better.  Smiley

Could do, but I'd leave it until around lunchtime (sorry for the late reply). Not sure you'd get much more out of it if you did though.

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

I just did a reboot of my router (using the disconnect method advised by Anotherone) and while I was at it I took out the micro filter and put in the other one supplied by Plusnet...just to see if there would be an improvement.
You were right Matt...it hasn't synced at a higher speed than what it did after the target reset...but I knew you'd probably be right on that...was worth a shot though.
One thing though....the internet light went solid green on it's own this time. When I got the router I rebooted a few times and reset the router once too and I had to manually connect via the admin page of the router each time.
So at least that's something positive.  Smiley

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

My DSL and Internet connection just dropped and I had to reconnect the PPP session via the router admin page just now and noticed the download speed has increased back up to 9.4 Mb.  Smiley

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

Hmmmm.....my connection just dropped again and reconnected on it's own.I saw a message in the router admin page saying the internet connection was down due to idle time out something or other...but didn't get to read it all before it reconnected on it's own.
Just reading about some issues on the Plusnet service info page today....but it only mentions web space issues.
Interestingly this second resync has put my speed up even more to 9.5 Mb.
Hope it stays there....but my current line speed hasn't caught up yet...it's still on 8 Mb.  Smiley

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

Since FEC corrections are appearing again it looks like the DLM turning interleaving on was behind the previous (9491kbps) re-sync.
Plusnet's problems today concerned access to their website and Member Centre, and Webstats creation - these shouldn't be affecting user's connections.

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

As spraxyt says, any issues that may arise with Plusnet's network or websites cannot and will not affect your sync. For DLM to have turned on Interleaving it doesn't like the errors and/or noise on your line. Have you got that corded phone yet?  Roll_eyes

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

I'd like to ask that my Plusnet current line speed get nudged up inline with my BTw IP Profile....my current line speed is 8Mb and my BTw IP profile is in the pic attachments.
It's been higher since last Thursday, funny how it's very quick to go down but slow to go back up  Grin

Re: Just Got Up And Running After 4 Weeks

An update on how things are...I recently bought an XF-1e Professional Microfilter from Tandy and did Anotherone's disconnect method and installed it.It hasn't worked miracles as it has for some, but it has cut my errors in half and there is no more local loss of framing or local loss of signal.
http://www.tandyonline.co.uk/xf-1e-professional-adsl-microfilter.html
I took screen caps of my stats at 9 days before the change and 9 days after the change for comparison...they're attached.
Earlier in the week I also bought a high quality RJ11 cable and installed it yesterday...I didn't get a higher sync rate on reconnection but I guess I'll see how it goes after a few weeks.
http://www.tandyonline.co.uk/high-speed-rj11-dsl-cable-2m.html
Anotherone, you'll be pleased to hear that I also bought a phone yesterday to be able to hear if there's noise on the line...I have a strong clear tone when I pick up the handset. The quiet line test by dialling 17070 and selecting option 2 was quiet...I assume the test repeats in a loop til you hang up.
Only thing I haven't done is fit a filtered faceplate but I'll have to see how it goes with the above.Wondering if there's a problem on the D side from my cabnet or contention on my Rose Street exchange to explain why my sync speed isn't higher.
The line attenuation checker on kitz suggests I should have an ip profile of 9.3Mb but my Plusnet current line speed is always 8.3Mb.
My street cabnet is maybe 75 metres or less from my flat.  Smiley
