Thanks Linn - really appreciate your quick movement on this.  Flabbergasted as to what happened (no engineer assignation), but hopefully someone will turn up on Thursday.

Thanks Linn!  And many thanks for you quick action on Tuesday.  I've got the text message that it's been completed and did get a call from Kelly Services asking if everything is ok.  If it is closed off on the system can you give me a call within the next hour as I am now on my lunch break?  Thanks!

Now the troubles are past, I cannot resist telling you my thoughts on reading the thread title "Line not connected with no end in sight"........"If they can't find the blinking end, how do they hope to connect it"? Grin Wink
No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Cheesy Well if you read through this thread it might have well have been very well as you described as one of the problems was that the engineers did not know how to connect the two ends together!

This is more a message for Linn K but also to round off this post.  Fibre engineer turned up and has installed the Fibre modem.  He said from that point of view everything is ok.  Plusnet router hasn't arrived but I will test with my Billion 7800n when I get home.  Thank you Linn for organising this for me and hopefully getting me to a happy ending! Smiley

Thanks for letting me know things went smoothly today! The router should hopefully be with you in the next couple of days.
I had a reminder to check on your order at 2 just in case the engineer was running late Smiley

Hi Linn,
Many thanks.  Up and running now and many thanks for all your help in these past two weeks!  Wish you were there at the beginning and this might have happened sooner.
One thing however.  When we checked you said I got get circa 66Mbps - I'm only connected at 48 Mbps (6 MB/s).  Is this part of some optimisation and that it will go up or is that it?
Also the BT Engineer installed the Fibre faceplate on an extension and not at the Master Socket - can you check why that is?

OK after reading up on this it looks like this should never have been connected to the extension but to the Master Socket.  Apparently the engineer came in and just asked where the telephone was (I wasn't home as I can't take any more days off).  Surely he should have known that wasn't a master socket?  This is probably where my drop in speed is coming from.  I need to get this changed. 
I don't understand how he was able to do this without realising it wasn't a master socket?
