Line rental

BT will increase their line rental charge by £1 on 01/12. Undoubtedly this will have to be reflected by PN and the 99% of other ISPs who have to use the BT infrastructure. Therefore this seems a particularly good time to consider paying Line Rental Saver up front - if not already in hand. It's a good deal now (you won't get that rate of interest on a savings account!)  and surely must become even more so?

Re: Line rental

Hi ArthurDent,
I understand that BT Retail are increasing the price from 01/12, is that correct?
I'm not sure if the cost of wholesale line rental (WLR) has been affected.
However, the salesman in me agrees with you encouraging the Line Rental Saver option.  Grin

My understanding was that Openreach's WLR Basic Line Rental charge reduced by over 5% on 1st July this year

Re: Line rental

Me too.
I've not heard anything of another pending increase in WLR products. That being said, I don't actively check so I could be wrong.

Re: Line rental

The reason for my assumption is that line rental charges to punters as quoted by all ISPs I've looked at recently (and believe me that, for other reasons, I've been into a few) seem to be v closely related to BT's rate.

Re: Line rental

I guess so. Coincedence probably.
We'd be more likely to make changes if the price of WLR goes up.

So if the wholesale price drops will plusnet also be dropping the price of line rental that it charges to the end user?

Re: Line rental

It entirely depends on a number of variables.
But as I said beforehand, we'd be more likely to change it if the prices go up.

Re: Line rental

Hi , the Line Rental Saver has gone up significantly in the last 2 years or so ...  £145 isn't it?  When I joined Plusnet it was about £100 - around 2 years ago...
