heres one for admin
i also would like to upgrade my package .............
i've been with plusnet for 5yrs and am currently on PlusNet Broadband Your Way Option 2 and would like to upgrade to the plusnet premium 80gig
BUT ........... after reading the package im not bothering
cheaper rates if you live in a competative area !
so if i lived in say london with a download rate of 20mb i'd pay £15.99
but as i am now... in the sticks with a max download speed of 1.5mb and an exchange that is BT only (that own plusnet ) i would have to pay £19.99 !
seriously looking to go elsewhere now

Dont blame BT or PN for the costings, you have to blame OFCOM for that ridiculous fact

i can live with the speeds but begrudge paying top dollar for a poor speed compared to others
there should be a consession for speeds less than the ' UPTO 20mb ' claim

Unfortunately this isn't something we have any control over. The criteria for a market 3 exchange is that it has to have at least 3 other providers offering LLU services, which will unfortunately be the busier exchanges - as these are the ones with most customers and therefore most revenue to be made for LLU providers.
I agree that this isn't ideal but unfortunately there's nothing we can do.

Quote from: pierre_pierre how many more times. It is OFCOM who set the differential, PN cant change that nor can BT and again it is OFCOM who set the market 1, 2 or 3
just one more time
many thanks

Quote how many more times
And one more:
PN could arrange a 'banding' system wherby customers nearer the exchange would pay more and those further away pay less whilst keeping the total 'pot' of income the same.
Maybe daft/too difficult ?

PN have to pay the same charge to BT irrespective of how a user is from the exchange. Those users who are near and hence paying more would find cheaper ISPs who were not charging differential prices. Plusnet would be left with all the low paying users with long lines who generate more faults and hence need more support and increase PN's costs.

The Value product is not good value at all, bastrdised to be fit for OAP's and again there is a postcode lottery.
This thread as with so many others shows that OFCOM is not fit for purpose, we need a cut in public spending, start with their huge range of execs and start over with customers forming the executive.
The current lot have got us into this mess, SACK THEM ALL, I say.
