Re: Major Disappointment in plusnet already!

@ Adam
What was the point of BT Openreach issuing this note (http://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/updates/briefings/super-fastfibreaccessbriefings/super-fastfibreaccessbriefingsarticles/nga00413.do) and booklet (http://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/aboutus/equivalence/downloads/Key_messages_for_GEA_FTTC_engineers.pdf) if engineers are not going to follow through with instructions?
If you read the booklet

Also remember to take a photo of the premises (the front of the house, including the door) If you have a smartphone with a camera, and send the picture via the ‘User no access’ app on your phone. Also leave an A108 card through the post-box. Again, this helps us when we’re explaining what’s happened to CPs. If you can’t leave an A108 make sure you explain why on the notes so we can let the CP know.
Surely this info gets fed back to CPs like PN?

Re: Major Disappointment in plusnet already!

Andy,
I did talk to a number of people at PN regarding this and was told that it is not a forced policy yet so there is no way to request this information.
I know for sure that the engineer never visited my premises or tried to contact me but its my word against the engineers and BT side with their engineers.
Until something like this is enforced PN and anyone else that uses BT is going to continue to be messed around and mess up their clients plans!
BTW i spoke to a friend who works for BT and apparently most of these kind of things happen when it is not an openreach direct engineer but a openreach contracter.

I would of thought that having an engineer  physically put a card through someone's door would be the safest way for us customers.  That way they couldn't just take a photo  and be off.

I had an Openreach Engineer around on Sunday when I was out, he pulled the new cable through the duct and wanted to connect it up - had I known he was coming i would've made sure I was in to avoid a 2 week delay for an appointment!  He left me a message on my phone and popped a card through the letterbox.

I had an OR engineer call me to say he couldn't gain access to my property, I said Yes you are due TOMORROW, he checked and apologised but fixed my fault (noisy line). NB this was about 8 years ago.

Re: Major Disappointment in plusnet already!

A BTOR engineer told me that it's the contractors who say you were out when you were in. He also said the BTOR vans are fitted with trackers and the contractors' are not and they're not asked to take photos of front doors. In other words the contractors can get away with a lot that the BTOR engineers can't.

Re: Major Disappointment in plusnet already!

It has been pointed out on The Register that BTOR "no shows" are becoming more frequent, BT claims it is improving but the customers say NAY!
Not just a PN issue but BTOR in general.

Re: Major Disappointment in plusnet already!

Well this is pretty funny now, PN sent me a text saying that the appointment was between 8am-1pm today and no one showed up so i called them.
Apparently i was sent the wrong time and its actually a PM appointment!
Well done PN way to waste my entire morning when i only needed to be around for the afternoon!

Perhaps you'll get half the compensation that's paid for an engineer no-show.  Wink

Re: Major Disappointment in plusnet already!

Well the engineer finally showed up so i now have access although i did have to manually setup the router with PN's help as it failed to come up itself.
Hopefully i have had more than my fair share of issues and will now have smooth sailing!
