Wasn't on LLU, I was and have been told by plusnet I still am on ADSL2, hence my upload speed was 600 ish.....although my upload sync is 448 as it was when I was on the old ADSL, pre ADLS2......with my line I should easily get 1600 download speed and 600 upload......in fact all my router stats point to me being on the old ADSL system.....

Hi Mand,
Thank you for that, so what will you do about the connection drops?
You mention that if I keep connected I will have a profile of 6000......
I cant see how I will have a profile anywhere near that high with the length of line I am on (4.7km as the crow flies) my profile has been 2000 for ages, that just tells me further that something is wrong at the exchange if the system thinks I can have a profile of 6000.....
When I was getting 1600 download speed (with router syncing at around 2700) my snr margin was 6db........you do the math,,,,

Re: Migration Query

Hi Dogwhisperer,
I've attached a screenprint of a line test of your, er, line below - this is what we're seeing from our end (it's a BT test). If you could paste the line stats from your router into the ticket so we can compare what's going on this will help the investigation on a long way.

Re: Migration Query

Hi Matt,
Just done as you requested.....
Also see the router stats here as well......
As you can clearly see BT's test is completely different from my router.....

Re: Migration Query

Also to me my router stats tell me I am on the old  ADSL pre 21cn network and not ADSL2 as I should be as they are exactly the stats they were when I was on the old system....

Re: Migration Query

We've seen a few cases recently where the stats seen by PN bore no relationship to what the user was seeing, often associated with an inability to run the BT speed test. Turned out that BT messed up the wiring at the exchanges.

Re: Migration Query

Many thanks jelv......why doesn't that surprise me... Roll_eyes
To add that my migration was delayed by 2 days due to a supposed dsl layer fault and then BT said they would fix this in 24 hrs so the migration could go ahead just smacks of doing the minimum job possible and supports what you say.....

Re: Migration Query

Have you managed to run the BT speed test?

Re: Migration Query

Yes, and it does show on there that I am syncing with the exchange at 6000, which I thought was odd and just dismissed it as an error, unless they have suddenly moved the exchange a lot closer... Roll_eyes

Matt,
I have supplied the information you wanted in this thread and in the ticket system, you mentioned that the info I supplied would go a long way in helping with the investigation.....well whats happing then????Huh
After all the info I have supplied I get this today in the ticket system a long list of questions which are largely irrelevant with the info I have given so far as the problem started at migration how many more times do I have to say it????????......plus the exchange thinks I can sync at 6000 which I clearly can't as my line is too long........I suggest before anyone replies in your ticket system they read ALL the info first or just one person deals with the issues as to avoid confusion......
This is the list of questions I received today.....

Dear ,
For us to be able to further investigate your connection problems please answer these questions:
1. Do you lose your connection only at certain times of the day, or is it all the time? If only at certain times, please say when.
2. How long has the problem been happening and when did it start?
3. What are you doing at the time of the fault (e.g. downloading large files). Does your connection drop when idle?
4. When you lose your connection is sync lost on the modem/router (i.e. does the ADSL link light start flashing or does it remain solid green?)
5. Do you have any other equipment on the telephone line which may affect the service (e.g a fax machine) . Is your PSTN (voice) service working OK?
6. Please connect your modem/router to the master telephone socket, leaving all other equipment disconnected. See if the problem still happens.
7. Has another modem/router been tested on your telephone line, or have you tested your modem/router on another telephone line which you know works OK?
8. Have you changed the micro filter to see if this is a problem?
9. Are you on a particular website when you lose your connection?
10. Is the session actually disconnecting (e.g. so you have to login again), or is it reducing to almost nothing (e.g. the session stays connected, but it is hardly usable)?
11. Can you reconnect again straight away, or do you have to reboot?
12. Do you use any other protocols and applications other than your web browser, email and FTP?
13. Do you get an error code when you log on again?
14. Have you added microfilters to all used points?
15. Is there an alarm system on the property which uses the telephone line?
16. Have you anything else connected to your PC besides the modem/router?
17. Please make sure that your modem/router stays switched on and plugged into the telephone socket. This will allow us to check your problem and make further tests.
