I've been with Plunet for a month and can never get good speeds. Even off-peak I only get about 2.7Mb. I know my line can support 4-4.5Mb, since that's what I got with my last provider and only changed because I was capped at 0.5Mb from 6-midnight, but with Plusnet I've used mybroadbandspeed.co.uk and got any thng from 0.3-2.7Mb all within a few seconds of running the tests, is there something wrong with my connection or is this the crap service I can expect from Plusnet for the next 18 months?

The first thing to check is whether something has gone wrong with your line.
Can you try the BT Speedtest http://speedtester.bt.com/
Advise what this says for current line speed https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed
Finally what does your router report - attenuation, noise margin and speeds

However frustrating it may be,it could be one problem of many,i was the complete oposite, with tiscali for a year and got just 1mb MAX!!changing to plusnet and using the same line, equipment etc im now geting great speeds,5-6mb
Do as old jim advises and im sure someone here can get to the bottom of your problem,if i can advise i will help you, however just blaming it on plusnet and having a bad attitude on here wont ever get you anywhere, stay calm and find the problem then in there lies your solution

Hi there and welcome to Plusnet, you're speeds certainly do seem to vary more than I'd expect from the speedtest results you've given us.
If you can get your router stats, it'll help us diagnose any problems and get to the bottom of it for you.

Apologies for my attitude! The BT Speedtest makes internet explorer crash, the current line speed is 3000 and
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 14.0 / 28.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 23.0 / 12.5
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 4,064

Odd.
Your connection looks pretty stable, most of your connections lasting days, so it's not a dropping connection issue.
I've just changed the 'line speed' to 3500Kbps, based on a change in the BT profile on your line.
I honestly can't see any reasons for your speeds fluctuating.
