1. If this feature is not being 'advertised' then it's pointless. But news travels fast on the internet.
2. Fair enough, we do not have the information you have, so only time will tell.
3. A single sign on, as useful as it is, can have serious repercussions if the data is compromised allowing direct access to account data held on Plusnet. You only need to think of TalkTalk.
Of course the question has to be asked of Plusnet, is this poll worth the HTML it's written in? That is, if the consensus of the vote is NO would Plusnet abide by the wishes of the users and make the new service private?

No offence intended Mook, but this is a bit of a moot poll. Accounts on the new forum will no longer tie into customer accounts, so there'll be no way for us to moderate who signs up.

2. We've spoken to lots of Lithium customers - particularly other Telco's - and not one has reported non customers as causing issues so we can have some confidence with that

Liam has put a lot of research into this point, and it has been raised internally, as well as by the focus group of customers who we have let in on the details of the new forums. As a result, I stand by this.
I also can't see anyone who has never been a Plusnet customer really committing themselves to excessive trolling on the forums once they've had an initial ban of their main email address. Potentially, there could be ex-customers who come and say their piece, but I think we have a responsibility to let them speak if they've had a bad experience.

For those who, like me,  previously unaware of the coming change, read the announcement here.

Also read this here.
Whilst we weren't too happy about people who weren't or aren't Plusnet customers being able to register, as jelv has said

If anyone is likely to cause trouble it's ex-customers with a grudge. If you were on these forums before you left you can still post.
I haven't seen any evidence that we have significant trouble with ex-users on here.
I think this is a non-issue!

So at least we know it's a "done deal".  Cry
I think it may well be "so long and thanks for all the fish" for many regulars in that case.
In my own case it will be one more reason to open my mind to other ISP's (or one less reason to stay, depending how you look at it).

Re: New Plusnet Community Open to All Vote

No offence taken MattyC, this poll was originally started prior to knowing it was a waste of time. I started it when I realised there wasn't a lot of support being shown for the new forum being public so I though it might serve a purpose, but I am a wiser person now.

That's a massive shame if those feel that way. Time will tell on this one I guess.
In order for me to think there will be non-customers trolling the new site, I have to imagine them attempting to sign up on this existing site before realising that they need a Plusnet account to post. I genuinely don't think that that's happening at all. Famous last words

So the only sign that it's the Plusnet forum will be a name at the top.

Re: New Plusnet Community Open to All Vote

I thought this forum was open to all. At least we are not going back, or are we, to the days that PN staff moderated the forum and speak out of turn and you were banned, oops that was a couple of times!
Whatever happens always remember "We will do you

This forum has never been moderated by Plusnet staff and as an ex moderator I can definitely state that you are talking rubbish

Re: New Plusnet Community Open to All Vote

This forum has always been open to all to READ.
The new forum will be open to all to POST.
The new forum will remain customer moderated.
For me the really sad thing here is that PlusNet is not listening to the wants of the customer base on anything - tickets vs. Chat, email SSL, IPv6, flexible billing....  I think there is a sense of hiding behind what others are doing and therefore thinking its "OK".  "Me too" is not differentiation.  I do not want a "me too" supplier, I want one which does things differently and better than the rest; one which delivers excellence in all it does.  Lithium is the same as the others, so it's not going to be possible to be better than the others.  I've had insight, I wait with interest to see what others will say.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: New Plusnet Community Open to All Vote

+1 to that Townman.
I joined Plusnet a few years ago to get away from Talktalk and their inept support and attitude towards customers. In recent times a few friends have joined Plusnet on my recommendation and suffered a significant lack of support and ownership of problems.  one new customer took over 2 months to get connected then had over 1 month of no service.
What does really frustrate me about this is while Plusnet has a real problem around customer service right now, with many threads on this forum still unanswered by support staff they seem to have the time to tinker with a forum that does work and are not listening to what the customer base is clearly asking for In this thread.
my contract still has 12 months left and if Plusnet continues to turn itself into another Talktalk style ISP then I will be looking for an alternative.
So Plusnet, do yourself proud, listen to what is being asked for and get back into what you used to do well - support your customers.

FWIW in the new forum, you'll be able to formally thank / like a post rather than doing a +1 as above.
Your statement is profoundly true, but will be considered as "harsh" by some.

Re: New Plusnet Community Open to All Vote

Hmm so if the new forums are no longer linked to accounts that's going to mean CRT wont be able to help with Plusnet Profile change requests etc because they wont know the account that the Forum poster belongs to, so that's another option that Customers had taken away or will they have some other option to know which account belongs to the forum poster

Re: New Plusnet Community Open to All Vote

AFAIK ex-customers can still post here, I believe several do and generally keep to the rules.  Customer moderation is the biggest difference that I can see from other ISP forums, critical posts that don't break the rules are here for all to see and I expect this to remain the case.  I remain hopeful that the new forums will continue in the established way we are used to.
