Re: Official....Plusnet confirm they don't have to provide a "Reasonable" service

Sorry - I didn't cover "warrenties" (sic).
There is no legal requirement to give a warranty or guarantee.  Goods are covered by the Sale of Goods Act and the Supply of Goods and Services Act, and must be of reasonable quality and fit for the purpose for which they were sold, but that's goods.  (You do not have a warranty on a service, just the reasonable care and skill bit noted above)
A warranty is additional  to those rights and at the discretion of the manufacturer (note your rights under warranty are usually against the manufacturer, whereas your rights under SOGA are against the person who sold the goods to you).

I would opt to find a Much more reliable broadband service than plusnet (You get what you pay for) and in this case is complete useless rubbish. (Dont Forget PlusNet are owned by bt so you aint going to get a better service) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plusnet

Perhaps Virgin Media?

Owned by BT doesn't necessarily mean controlled by BT Wink

A service cannot break.
A product can break, but a service can't.
A service can only fail to be delivered.
The service PN contractually provide is to "attempt" to provide an ADSL connection.

No I'm not, but S75 of the CCA applies to products bought via a debtor / creditor / supplier agreement (that includes credit, but not debit, cards) which cost over £100, and where the total credit is less tha £30K.  I won't get into the complexities, but if you think of each month's payment for your Broadband as one credit transaction, then clearly it's not over £100.  As I said, if your broadband was paid on an annual basis, then potentially S75 may apply.  That's not to say that your credit card company wouldn't help you out with any dispute, but they're not obliged to by law.
Although as I said before, that doen't mean you don't have any rights.  I'd love to know how to add hyperlinkslinks in the forum but go to
www.statutelaw.gov.uk and search for Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982
You're legal entitlements are there including:
Quote
S13. Implied term about care and skill. In a contract for the supply of a service where the supplier is acting in the course of a business, there is an implied term that the supplier will carry out the service with reasonable care and skill.

I'm not defending Plusnet.  It may be that in the OPs case, they have been negligent, or incompetent, or simply inefficient!  My earlier point was that, without all the details, it's impossible to give a definitive answer.  I can only speak from my own experience, when I say that I've always found them very helpful, although where the fault lies with BT their options seem to be limited.
The OP has my sympathy, and I'm sorry that PN seems to have been unable to get their problems sorted.  Maybe another ISP will be able to help, but I suspect that as long as they use BT lines, they won't find any better service.  Virgin?  unless you're fortunate enough to be in an area where there's cable, then you're still using BT lines (and Virgin has their own history of horror stories  :-\)
I hope all that makes sense

Gives you summat like this:
the_bit_you_want_clickable_here
A better example:

Google
Google
You can also nest the commands, so you could have an [img] in the middle rather than the word "Google" (or whatever), that was clickable to take you to the source of it, for example.
