I don't think I'd have signed up if I knew, I assumed they would.

I use OpenDNS: https://www.opendns.com/home-internet-security/parental-controls/opendns-home/ (amongst other measures).
No need for an ISP provided solution.

Have a good read as to why many think these should not be provided - be careful that these concepts do not give you a false sense of security... the best protection for your children is your diligence and presence in their internet use.
PlusNet are indeed looking at this space - I await with interest to read the first complaint that they did not filter something that they consider inappropriate or that their child circumvented the controls or that the controls prevent the adults in the house hold accessing whatever they want to access.
