Quote from: Ronski I've recently taken to using Cloud backup, but as you can guess it is very slow, even at the .75Mb/s I get now, so I would love to have 10Mb/s upload speed, and if Plus Net are not providing this it may be time to move on!
The 2/10 Mbps upload speeds only apply to the FTTC products, not ADSL2+, so it's not like you'll see an improvement if you just move to another ADSL2+ connection... If you were planning on leaving plusnet to get a 10Mbps up FTTC package, be prepared to pay for it!!

I know full well the 2/10Mbs speeds relate to FTTC products, maximum ADSL2+ is 2.5Mbs, I recently had mine uncapped, hence I get 0.75Mbs.
As regards price, take a look at what BT are offering, the package I would be interested in is only £25 + £10 line rental, has unlimited usage (not sure on FUP), 40/10 speeds, evening and weekend calls included, not to mention Fon and Openzone access. Cost wise pretty much inline with PN.
Now of course I would have to look into the FUP, and traffic shaping etc, but it certainly looks more interesting than PN's 2Mb/s service, for around the same price. After nearly 10 years with PN perhaps it's time to move on.
PS. I raised this 2/10Mbs question with support, and got some lame answer that as FTTC was new and they were concerned with stabilty problems when using 10Mbs uploads, and it may be something they offer in the future - perhaps someone from PN should tell BT they may have loads of problems with their services

@Ronski,
Your searches led you to re-open this 6-month-old topic, however you'd probably be in a better position if you'd managed to find one of the more recent topics instead.
This topic is in the fibre trials forum, while this topic is in the Brodband forum. Both make reference to this story in the blog that is more appropriate to FTTP - but the comments in the story hold out hope.
From one comment, there's obviously a watching eye out on the 80/20 capability too, and what kind of knock-on effect this will have on the commercial offerings.

Thanks for the info WWWombat, but from reading the linked posts it just seems PN are in a total mess, and don't no what they are doing!

The thing about this is there is just £1 a month difference in the 40/2 and 40/10 profile charges BT Wholesale will be charging PlusNet for the services.
Published prices per month at Wholesale rates are 40/10 - £14 per month 40/2 - £13 per month
To complete the set 55/10 is £15 / month and 80/20 £16 per month.
