Re: Plusnet IRC Server

Not sure what the crack is, but I'm back on now without any problems. Not sure what happened.

Calling would be no good, as it's part of PUG and not a supported service.
Oh... I never realised there were any such services...

So you'd never read adiewoo's signature?

Re: Plusnet IRC Server

is it possible to connect to this from a non plusnet IP?  Other ISPs seem to get along fine without this restriction (and surely you're most likely to want to access the server when your plusnet connection is down!?)
Anyway, if it's any use, my non plusnt IP is static if you are able to whitelist IPs?

Lurking is good Smiley
The IRC server doesnt get that much use sadly.

the IRC whilst having staff in at times, a) isnt always active b) isnt "official" route of support, even if support is given in there..
The IRC is restricted due to previous abuse IIRC. I dont expect that to change. Smiley

Re: Plusnet IRC Server

Bah, oh well.  For what it's worth, AAISP (currently 169 users in #A&A) and Be (currently 84 users #be) both manage just fine with open channels.

Re: Plusnet IRC Server

But, theyre used as a way of supporting their customers.
This IRC sometimes goes full days without anyone as much as entering / chatting... =P
Feel free to bring people over though. And there is nothing to "stop" a user from bouncing their connection through a plusnet connection to connect to PN IRC.
Infact, the latter is quite common, particularly with people whom have stopped using plusnet, yet have come to know some of the regulars. Smiley

Re: Plusnet IRC Server

Ok, i think I may know why I can't connect.
My PN IP doesn't seem to have a xxxxxx.plus.com hostname, and since its limited to PN connections, Im going to take a wild stab in the dark and say im being blocked from connecting.
CGI connects fine, but it works from non PN connections.
