Quote from: AlaricAdair If the announcement was symmetric FTTP with IPV6 to all customers, I might be impressed. BT has had long enough.
Not something any ISP can do so long as there are BTOR crappy copper (aluminium) d-sides everywhere.

Quote from: jafreer The gateway checker shows me connected to pcl-ag02 so not sure why the 206.core.plus.net is there.
Two different network interfaces. The gateway checker will be using the rDNS of the outward-facing interface (which is probably correct), whilst you're seeing the the inward-facing interface in your outbound traceroutes.
Quote from: jafreer Bob - is there a way to tell when one is moved onto the new network?
It will be fairly simple for some to tell because they'll see the routing change in outbound traceroutes. Not everybody will though, and for those folk the best clues you're likely to get are from checking the service notices/tickets on your account. (I /think/ that's still possible to do?). Other option is to ask a member of staff, but I strongly advise against that as it will detract from more important issues that need attending to - especially when our support folk are so busy.

But surely the metallic path becomes redundant for an FTTP installation?

Forgive me, but being semi-rural, I'm rather teased off with the generation gap on technology in such areas compare to the high quality services being rolled out to urban areas. There are whole swathes of semi-rural and rural areas which cannot even get ADSL2, let alone have the prospect of FTTP.

This morning I checked my account and found a ticket saying I had migrated to another supplier and for checks to be made to see if I owed anything! I have not migrated and in fact recently renewed my contract.
After my wife and I returned home at mid day I found no internet connection so rand PlusNet, 15 minute wait, I was only getting lunch ready so I can do two things at once!
When call answered Checks made I was informed I had been switched to the new network and would need to reset the router as it was not recognised on the network, so pin in hole and reset, after it rebooted internet was back working.
So looks like switching customers over to new network does not always go seamlessly and also says you have migrated!

If it's to force TR069 to reset the username/password, anyone using their own router is going to be stuffed!

Quote from: tijara33 I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.
As already said, you may know what all the fuss is about when they switch you over and you lose your connection
