Quote from: Mand I've known people have a much bigger than 160GB off peak usage in a month. I wouldn't worry yet.
I suspect that would be a conservative limit when people start to take full advantage of Fibre
Be nice if the old Premier off-peak limits could be introduced when this happens

Quote from: jelv Mand, just to complete the picture how often has a user been contacted because of excessive overnight usage and when was the last time it happened?
As far as I'm aware (I'd need to check with Dave on Monday to be absolutely certain) it was a couple of years ago and they were business users with large amounts of overnight P2P (we're talking in excess of a few hundred GB).

I would prefer the Pro Product to be offered as an unthrottled service but with:
- A lower entry price for a lower entry Data Transfer Allowance - say £9-99 with 5GB Included Data Transfer Allowance
- Additional Data Transfer @£5 per 5GB(if you must!)
- Free Data Transfer from Midnight to 08:00
- Option to limit additional Data Transfer cost with Line clamped to 128Kbps to end of charging month
- Account Charges capped at £100/ month as at present
- 10 day Notice of migration/ termination with MAC available by raising a Ticket
My rationale is that:
You have VALUE which give the option of Low Cost and Throttled service
EXTRA which provides Balanced Cost, Data Transfer allowance and Speeds.
PRO should offer Unthrottled Speed but the customer PAYS for the priveleged priority of traffic on the Network. If you don't charge a premium price for the premium data rate, it won't work.

Apart from the lower allowance and MAC by ticket all of your other points are offered by Pro now. This seems to go against what current Pro users want judging by this thread though.

Yes I am advocating the Pro-Lite product for those LOW USAGE customers who want Premium Speeds are prepared to pay for extra Usage.
This is different to the proposition in this Poll which is for Premiun Speed but not willing to pay for the Usage cost.
PlusNet seem to want to pander to the higher usage customer by making the Low usage customer subsidise them.

with gaming utube web surfing emails updating windows, msm.live streaming.
why do we need fast download speeds if you give us crap download amounts, pretty pointless is it not . with a 8meg down speed you could use your 60gb in 2 days lol.
we may as well all just go back to the old dial up, because isps are just restricting the speeds and giving us cr*p restrictions
think i will be moving to a new isp

Quote from: Oldjim Going back to a suggestion made a year or so ago and modifying it as bit.
How about letting a user switch between profiles - Extra and Pro with separate allowances on each. Even if the marginal cost for Extra was added to the Pro subscription.
I think the original idea was to let users go onto the Pro priority for a limited period by paying a premium for that time

But as Barry said in your other thread, you have to pay for it.
Your comparison with TalkTalk suggests that you know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Quote from: _Adam_Walker_ I don't think from discussions that have cropped up on here and other forums in the past that a low usage, high priority speed package would be that popular? No That would just be a pointless package That could be the subject for another poll though maybe? Nah I know what the outcome would be and I'm sure you do as-well

The product ISNT aimed at gamers in that it only has 20gb of PEAK time usage.
The idea is you top up to the amount with the extra GBs you need. If you only play between 11pm and 3am (like some people i know :D) then the package would probably be idael. (no, im not suggesting change yoyr habits before this gets thrown at me)
It goes without saying, if you want more - you have to pay more its hardly a "no one seems happy with pro" .. its a Someones hinted at there could be room for increasing the allowance (Adam) so now everyones wanting Better Value For Money (which is to be expected). Im on the old 80gb premium package, id be well happy if all of a sudden the peak usage went up to 120gb. will it happen? well no, as its not a current product.. But you get the idea...
Regards
P.S. its a shame you have to pay line rental tbh, i find it a restrictive cost. id much rather pay £30 worth of a broadband package, with no phoneline whatsoever tyvm!

Quote from: _Adam_Walker_ I don't think ..... that a low usage, high priority speed package would be that popular. ....
That would be the legacy PAYG 2GB product (which I'm just realising doesn't compare well to Pro in Market 3 areas)
For some reason I understand that that was never a popular product. How many are still on it?
