Re: Plusnet Pro, we need more GB per month

"Materialistic faganism" more "Good business sense"
its good business sense for  companies , ie energy companies  to form  cartels
rather than appreciate any customers
I  agree  with customers who are not satisfied about  plusnet's idea of  usage
it makes good business sense for plusnet customers to move to high usage ISP' providers
customers  should  look for  better business providers that will offer unlimited or higher usage for lower costs
than plusnet
just  monetarism  and consumerism
you deserve no customers

Re: Plusnet Pro, we need more GB per month

if i make a connection to another computer locally  I dont  need to charge myself bandwidth
and my cable is dedicated and data can flow by the bytes at the price of  my electric bill
my telphone line SHOULD be dedicated to the point of its destination
it is all about sharing  our lines  on some kind've of electronic switch system
and dreaming up ever new ways to make money from us
when my line is throttled for data or speed
then that is BAD business (the internet is unlimited in China)
add yourself to all the other  greedy landlords,   con men , cowboy builders cowboy ISP's  etc  here in the uk
I guess they are thinking it is making good business sense
and while my data  line is  restricted  so that you can make more money
i@m being robbed
plusnet needs more than just a new lick of paint
but a complete rebuild
its value  packages allows you  to watch 3 videos over the net
that is if your lucky(thats your 10GB)
these  sort  of accounts hitting the telly up north
are/were given away free
stupid internet and television advertisers
people obviously know that plusnet is spending money on adverts rather than spending it on giving folk useful bandwidth use
Your as  popular as BT

HA, yeah, Would you like to google something in .cn?  (anyone feel like searching for human rights through 'The great firewall of china' ?)
YOU dont charge YOURSELF bandwidth, because you own all the equipment and the lines... much like PN doesnt charge itself for bandwidth between its services.
BT charges Plusnet (and ALL ISPs) for how many Mb/s they use. PN could quite happily pay a small fixed cost, throw all their customers on it to save money and make the service super cheap....
Although everyone would get great connection speeds, throughput would suck!
The reason? because any data outside the uk BT has to pay for.. peering agreements, data transfer.. the whole network needs to be maintained and upgraded to keep customers happy.. where does the money come from ?Huh

my telphone line SHOULD be dedicated to the point of its destination

When that happened, you used to call the "operator" who "put you through" ... if you want that to occur again feel free, but it would mean you would need a line to every single thing you want on the internet (mesh network anyone?)

Not really, You get what you pay for. If you want more GB, you pay more money for it. simple.
If you read the small print of these "unlimited" packages, you'll find the FUP gives you a fixed limit of whats "acceptable" to use per month. o2 have introduced these on all packages (shame, because up until now the FUP was sort of 'suck it and see'), along with many companies who already use them.
bandwidth isnt free. for every 655mbps segment to BT (on 20cn network) PN has to pay just over £1m per annum, PLUS the installation costs of new capacity.
Yeah.. Cheap business aint it.

You could however, add a fourth package with PRO shaping and 60gb of usage, although it would have to be reasonable in terms of cost - as i dont think people will pay more than the high £20s... (Elite package? :))

What planet are you on?
I'd be very surprised if Plusnet could offer anything like that for less that £40. On the present Pro package 60GB usage would be £56.49 (market 3 exchange) so £40 is one heck of a discount.

Why I have left Plusnet (warning: long post!)
Broadband: Andrews & Arnold Home::1 (FTTC 80/20)
Line rental: Pulse 8 Home Line Rental (£14.40/month)
Mobile: iD mobile (£4/month)

Re: Plusnet Pro, we need more GB per month

You obviously have an issue with plusnet.
The 'value' package is just that, its cheap and cheerful. Its not aimed at people wanting to sit on p2p and watch iplayer etc.
idk giro, a company making money AND expanding, it seems to be running alright to me...
You see teething issues all over the forums (it happens everytime plusnet gets a massive burst in growth)
If you want free broadband go sign up to TalkTalk, Or Sky, feel free- no ones stopping you.
Want unlimited bandwidth? sure. go find someone who actually genuinely gives *true* unlimited bandwidth.
The entire system isnt "out to get you" like you seem to make out. You drive? you put fuel in the car, once its gone - its gone, you pay to put more in.. You dont go to the dealership and demand they make it work for free do you?
and 3 "videos" is abit suspect. 3 feature-length films maybe. or a few hours streaming iplayer. But as ive stated above - its not meant for that.

plusnet is spending money on adverts rather than spending it on XYZ

yep thats been up for debate for a few months now, but still - growth is all good, it pays the bills and improves the service (more money spent on it) wala

@jelv
T'was just a suggestion, i dont expect anything to be added to the product line up of that price for that amount. i was just helping the "i want lots of bandwidth for £0 please" (which obviously, doesnt work) Smiley
Also the 5gb for £5 is (again) what i think is most of the problem. It should be *much* less if its bought in advance imho. £1 for 5gb would increase the uptake im sure.

Re: Plusnet Pro, we need more GB per month

I dont need advice on ISP's
Its unlimited in China , Unlimitedbut at512k)in African Zambia and In the usa ,  well some isp's do have restrictions but there in TerraBytes
and I will eventually take my money  elsewhere
It certainly should not go to pay for advertising plusnet on telly
've wasted enough time talking about  the monthly 10GB of plusnet  internet

Re: Plusnet Pro, we need more GB per month

its a proven fact, "unlimited" internet doesnt work.
running @ 512k your hardly gonna be pulling down TB's of data every month..
if you have an issue with plusnet why dont you open a thread detailing the issues, someone is more than likely able to help.
if you think your going to get yourself a perfectly unlimited service for a similar price, you clearly need advice Smiley

Re: Plusnet Pro, we need more GB per month

well I'd rather have Zambia net at 512k unlimited
than plusnet uk at 2.4MG  @10GB

cheeky plusnet
anyhow  its plusnet's loss and not mine ,  their  going to lose customers

Re: Plusnet Pro, we need more GB per month

cheeky plusnet?
99% of the posts here are from customers, including myself...
if 10gb isnt enough for you, consider upgrading to the Extra package.
Your issues with your allowance is completely irrelevent to the topic... it is discussing Plusnet PRO. Not value.
as far as im concerned, the value package is perfectly usable for many people.

Thanks David W, that's a great idea.

Not at those prices, would move to BT inifty.

BT Infinity is a Fibre product, there will be packages for Fibre coming along eventually when PN start rolling it out.  But as I showed previously, on Fibre with PlusNet I can download 21TB a month, would BT Infinity let you download that much?

Re: Plusnet Pro, we need more GB per month

I  will have payed plusnet for their 10GB(monthly) *  12(1 year)= 120GB per year
~with the requirement to have a phone(the ethernet link)
a total cost  of ~£216 for 120GB(a 1 year maximum allowance without additional  costs )
and I'm paying for a  shared phone line (except for the last few feet to my door )
if i did this this I would never pose it
beam me up scotty

Re: Plusnet Pro, we need more GB per month

i'm not so detached from reality
as to believe plusnet are not highly profiting  from me
and enough to be able to pay for expensive telly commercials
so moderator you can stop the giro personal  documentary
as when my year is complete it  will make business sense for me to migrate to a new provider
who does offer me a better deal than what i have
