Do you get an option if you are upgrading from ADSL

I think that there was a "tick box" where you could request a router. I didn't realise that I needed a special fibre router. Consequently, I wasn't able to use my fibre broadband straightaway & had to order a PN router retrospectively which arrived the next day.
Once I realised that I was losing 50% of my speed via wireless I treated myself to an Asus  RT-N56U. My speed immediately returned to normal.

The range of my Techicolor router is OK but speed is down (35mbps on 80/20 FTTC). I would get an Asus  RT-N56U but don't know if it can be wall mounted. Can it?

most reviews say that the fact the Asus  RT-N56U cannot be wall mounted is one of it's only flaws

No, because of it's unique blade shape it can't be wall mounted.
