Re: Plusnet will give your personal details to ACS Law with not informing you!!

Reading through the material thats been posted, it becomes quickly obvious how squalid this dirty little scam is. Granted people will say anything when backed into a corner, but assuming not all respondents were lying, there are clearly a number of people guilty of no discernible offence other than not understanding wifi or having kids with a sense of curiousity.
Others are considerably more tragic; clueless octogerarians who can just about email their grandchildren; a woman whose son downloaded the single track has a serious mental illness. Another woman claims to have spent the weekend contemplating taking a bottle of pills she is so frightened by the letter. An endless string of those on virtually non-existent incomes who deny everything but still offer to pay on the basis that a law firm must have SOME evidence.
In one  exchange, ACS specifically state they will not go after corporates or resellers - presumably there's more profit in taking aim at those with nothing who are used to handing what they have over at the sight of an official letter.
While Plusnet and others worry about those oh so important "business decisions", the fate of those with very little are profoundly affected by the stances taken. Staff at Plusnet should know better than most how flaky some of this so-called "evidence" is. Those who have taken part in the decisions that have got us here should, at a human level, hang their heads in shame at their cold lack of spine.
I am personally disgusted, and not just at ACS:Law and related parasites.

I am posting a abridged version of the NPO dated 7 Jul, in it it shows that Plusnet would not be getting the Report...............could it be that BT was embarraced about the noise we were making on this thread.

Re: Plusnet will give your personal details to ACS Law with not informing you!!

I also feel really disappointed by PlusNet's role in all this.
You have been an excellent ISP for me, but I'm seeing that when a two-bit cowboy legal firm asks for your customers details, intimate and embarrassing information is suddenly splashed all over the internet. It doesn't matter that what those customers did might have been illegal. That's irrelevant.
This will affect my decision when I review my ISP. Other providers have said no to the bullies.
You really need to grow a pair and stand up for your loyal customers from now on.

Well the last order changed so that Plunet would not get a report so it looks like Plusnet requested that to me.

It really is quite poor if PN have colluded with this nasty extortion racket.  I feel like I've made a mistake joining, and it's only my first day Sad

can we have honest answer from the pn/ bt camp as to why you asked for these clauses to be added?

Honest answers.
Not a hope in hell.

I don't understand that!
Why are Plusnet not getting the reports not that they did the last time anyway.
Have they negotiated a deal or something (continuing dialouge)?

The quoted email indicates the opposite to me, in that the original order didn't have the reporting requirement in it, and BT Legal requested that it would be added.

Re: Plusnet will give your personal details to ACS Law with not informing you!!

Does anyone know if PlusNet have now contacted all of their customers affected by this debacle? and indeed if they have any other customers impacted by actions taken by similar companies to ACS law? That is how many times have they sent customer details lists? I am appalled by the lack of due process here and the sort of people that were affected ... one woman thought about killing herself for goodness sake!

Re: Plusnet will give your personal details to ACS Law with not informing you!!

I am absolutely appalled that PlusNet would pass on customer details to ACS Law considering their flimsy evidence gathering procedures. This doesn't bode well for when the Digital Economy Act comes into force and there will be many more vexatious appeals from rightsholders asking for user data.
TalkTalk and Virgin clearly respect their customers - they didn't give ACS Law any infornation whatsoever.
As a result of this, I'm definitely changing ISP.

But the court order never had it included.
Mand can you post a copy of revised order.
Or anyone else including Plusnet Staff.

Because TalkTalk had quite publicly said they would contest it!!!! Or are we supposed to believe TalkTalk and Virgin customers don't use P2P thus there was no need to chase any one on these 2 huge ISPs ?

Plusnet are making this hole deeper and deeper.
I think you should come clean and be honest and open and you may manage to save some face.
The way it is going at the moment you will be so deep you may never see the light again.

Oh my god where do i start,
Plusnet have given out names and addresses to ACS Law  and Gallant McMillan on at least three occasions in the past year, 19 Nov 09, March 10, and the latest one was granted on 7 jul 10. You can guess that many thousands have had their names and addresses sent by now.
They will still be on ACS Laws Servers. I hope the police will confiscate there IT Equipment as this must now be a "Criminal" case (DPA) is a act of parliament afterall
