Re: Sadly leaving -> now happily staying

This is just like the problem I had with TalkTalk. Took the phone, too, which was with the Post Office! I phoned the Post Office and they said there was nothing they could do about it.
I didn't even ask to switch - they took it over because I was an olde Pipex customer.
I said yes to them sending me an info pack, next thing I know I'm getting a welcome pack.
Lots of calls - talk about the hard sell. To the point of aggresive.
Anyway, long and similar story shortened.
I do my banking online so I was able to go in and cancel the Direct Debit they'd set up. I get a letter from TalkTalk saying the DD was not working. Hehe.
Eventually got my phone back.
Then I switch to Plusnet. So far its been a blessed relief.
k, that's all from me, don't want to hijack someone else's issues....

PS.
Don't think they are clueless, its just as soon as you hit the machinery its pretty hard to disengage.

Re: Sadly leaving -> now happily staying

There is a protocol they themselves have to follow, when I called to cancel the transfer it should have been done automatically but they didn't send the form through or something like that, I can't cancel the DD as technically I am currently with Sky so I do have to pay them, I just shouldn't be with them.  Now thinking about it, they generally switch phone and DSL when going LLU at the same time, so I'm very lucky that they didn't kill my internet on the day they switched my phone over by sticking me on their LLU equipment.

Re: Sadly leaving -> now happily staying

If your Plusnet broadband is working you are NOT on TalkTalk's LLU for your phone. Broadband from BTw (as used by PN) only works if the phone is via BTw.

Aye, that's the odd thing Jelv, I was switching to Skys LLU package which requires Skys phone package which I assume means I needed Sky phone gear in the exchange, they seem to have just done a normal switch over on the BT network.

If you go to the portal and select Email settings under My Account in the left hand menu, then Email Communication Preferences is the box on that page ticked?

Hope you don't mind my reply but a little confused as to the ticking of this box.
I have followed your instructions and the box next to I would prefer not to receive electronic communications about the special offers, promotions and services available from PlusNet   is not ticked and I never receive e-mails from plusnet regards offers for existing customers. It appears to be if the box is ticked you will not receive eletronic communications, unticked you will. Would appreciate your advise.
Regards.
