Last night (discussed in other topics) I experienced some dire speeds. It has been suggested by Plusnet that it was due to some parts of the system being overloaded:
I wouldn't call something that turns
in to
as "a little out of balance".
If that is the cause it is obvious that the system is in pretty bad shape.
So why no Service Status posting?
Edit: To rule out one possibility, my sync was 8128 throughout and my IP Profile has never moved from 7150.
Quote from: Mand Do you happen to know which gateways you hit each time you reconnected? We are a little out of balance and some endpoints were very busy last night. I suspect this is what gave you the slow speeds tbh. I'm going to do some testing here though to make sure.

Last night was very busy, it was the first day back from holidays for many people, and we had an extra 2GB of traffic solely due to the Champions League match.
We had 2 endpoints (out of 28) that were out of balance and very busy for a couple of hours in the evening. Given the drastic degradation of your base speed I'd suggest you were on one of them. The number of customers affected isn't big enough to justify a callout and a service status posting, and most people's service would have recovered before we'd been able to take any corrective action.

So you are saying that in spite of me reconnecting more than once I still hit one of the two endpoints that were busy and not one of the other 26 that were OK?

Given the speeds you've posted, yes.

Worth mentioning that a lot of endpoints were busier than normal (2GB of extra traffic will do that ;)), but not enough to cause the degradation you were seeing. We have more bandwidth coming online on Friday too.

Mand - what sort of time did the football thingy start?
I'm just wondering whether on top of your capacity being unbalanced, the backhauls were probably close to saturation too?

On the other thread, I'd posted that the only graph on the "performance" page that was correct was the user #s.
However, if there are 28 endpoints now, then even this graph is out of date.
